Really!! lets see, Gomez fought 3 Mexican hall of Famers(Zarate, Sanchez & Pintor) & was knocked out by 1 but knocked 2 of them the *** OUT!! Zarate was undefeated 52-0-51KO's & was a World champ at the time & so was Pintor! The ONLY Mexican Benitez fought for a world title was at the time welter world champ Carlos Palomino & beat him..Tito Trinidad fought 3 Mexican's(Campas, Vargas & DeLaHoya) in world title fights & all 3 were UNDEFEATED & BEAT all 3, 2 by KO!! Wilfredo Vazquez Sr went to Mexico(D.F) to challenge then WBA 122lbs World Champ Raul"El Jibaro"Perez & Vazquez Sr KO'd Perez in 3 rounds!! Arrogant Swollen Headed Juanma Lopez has fought 4 Mexican's in world tile fights(Ponce De Leon, Figueroa, Marquez & Salido) & knocked 2 of them the *** out in 1 round & 1 of those was the world champ(Ponce de Leon) & the other Marquez quit on his stool(tipical Mexican style) & yes got pummeled by 1(Salido), but not bad, 3 out of 4..& Camacho did loose to Chavez but did beat 2 Mexicans before that for world titles, Rafael"Bazooka"Limon for the WBC featherweight title by KO in 5 & José Luis Ramirez for the lightweight title..Carlos Ortiz 1st defense of his Wolrd Title was against undefeated & highly regarded Mexican KO artist Battling Torres & Ortiz KO'd Torres in 10... & thanks to Mexican's, we got our 1st World Champion back in 1934 when Boricua Sixto Escobar came as a last minute replacement for Mexican Rodolfo"Baby"Casanova's(who was the heavy favorite) original opponent for the vacant world Batamweight title & Escobar pummeled Casanova for 8 rounds & KNOCKED HIM THE *** OUT(left him unconscious down face first!) in the 9th!!! The list could still go ON & ON & ON..See, it's NOT exactly like u say!! Both sides have had their ups & downs & it's gonna continue that way..That's what Boxing all about..

Gomez ended with a record of 44-3-1-42KO's & 23 of those fights were world title fights & his record in word championship fights was 20-3-18KO's!! & Gomez has the record for the longest uninterrupted title reign at jr featherweight(5 years, 10 months) Gomez was also a Amateur World Champion winning Gold in Havana, Cuba(1974) & winning ALL the fights by KO!!He KO'd 3 fighters in 2 rounds & 1 in 1 round!! Among them was the favorite to win the Gold in his weight class, Cuban amateur champion Luis Jorge Romero...He's DEFINITELY the best Puerto Rican fighter of all time!! & 2 of his 3 losses came to Hall of Famers Salvador Sanchez & Azumah Nelson..The other was to Panamanian Alfredo Layne at just about the end of Gomez's career..It's gonna be REAL hard for ANY other Boricua fighter to at least MATCH those credentials, never mind trying to TOP them!!!

A few weeks ago(before the Juanma/Salido fight) arrogant swollen headed Juanma would have said he was the best ever!! & he actually believed it, until Salido gave him a reality check!!

            this right here....................

I would give Gomez a slight edge over Ortiz and put both over Trinidad. Gomez was one of my favorite fighters growing up and his war with Pintor was one of the best fights I've ever seen.

and that's such a disgrace right??? To lose to a bum like Sanchez.... You Mexicans knock guys for losing to Mexicans like as they are losing to bums. There's no shame in losing to a great fighter. Remember he moved up from jr to featherweight and went right back down after the lost. He later returned but that was after he couldn't do 122 anymore. And he did whip Zarate's ass but u guys forget or better yet choose not to acknowledge that.
