Naw, like I said, it's nothing special. This isn't "Seven Samurai" we're talking about here. lol I saw it once years ago. I recall it being kinda fun, strictly from a boxing fan's perspective...real "unplug your brain" sort of entertainment.
Anyway, on that note...night, night. Been "real" chatting it up with you guys!Comment

You made a good choice in my opinion. I saw this movie a couple of times years ago and still feel that same way.As down to earth and realistic as you can get.Topic's been done, but let's do it again.
The Set-Up is my fav boxing movie,

Raging Bull, though visually beautiful, is hideously overrated...and that's coming from a big fan of the Scorsese/De Niro partnership. The way Marty projects his Catholicism onto LaMotta, a man who never had time for the Catholic faith or the notion of God, is especially sickening.Comment

Anyone who mentioned The Fighter when there's so many great boxing films out there clearly has horrible taste in movies.
Take Christian Bale and Melissa Leo's performances out of it and it's an incredibly mediocre film any way you look at it.Comment

There's no accounting for taste. Look to your sig. The whole MoneyMay thing is way too flashy for my taste. I find it gauche.
As far as performances go, I thought Marky Mark did a fine job and I really liked the trashy sisters. They made me cringe every time they opened their mouths and I think that was the point.
Add all that to the fact that I'm a big Micky Ward fan and it's my favorite boxing movie.Comment

Well you are certainly entitled to your opinion, Left Hook, and no one should attempt to judge anyone else for their opinion, other than to say I disagree. There's no accounting for taste. Look to your sig. The whole MoneyMay thing is way too flashy for my taste. I find it gauche.

I do wonder if people who have The Fighter as their #1, have seen Raging Bull, The Hurricane, and other films.
For me, I thought The Fighter was good, but the two I just cited were vastly better.Comment
