One that I was disappointed with was "The Boxer," with Daniel Day-Lewis. He's truly one of my favorite modern actors. I've never been anything but impressed with his work, but the movie did nothing for me. Did you guys ever see that one?

I saw The Boxer. I too was very disappointed in that one. Usually love DDL, but that film did nothing for me.
DDL great in My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father, and others.
I doubt he'd kick my ass, but I'll bet he can take my punches! lol
Of course, I didn't mean anyone in particular, and I trust my being rhetorical was understood.
On LaMotta, there is one thing I would love to know and see.
Is there any film extant of his winning fight over SRR? Or that KD and one other KD in one other fight with SRR? (As I recall he won only one of 6, but KDed him in 2 fights.)

Historic film if it exists.
Oh, no, I mean it literally. lmao
As for the vintage footage: I don't know.
I was trying to think of this film earlier; it's nothing special, but I remember it being kind of fun for a boxing fan: "Play it to the Bone." It's with Antonio Banderas and Woody Harrelson. They play a couple of journeymen friends that wind up fighting on a card in Vegas.
