What are you talking about?
Pacquiao has been averaging about 2 millions PPV buys per year since '09 (Virtually an American institution), has been/will be featured on a multitude of American TV programs, and has merchandise in American stores/companies.
Landon Donovan has a deal with Nike if I'm not mistaken, but that's where the comparison ends. Who do you know that would shell out $60 to watch him play soccer in the U.S. let alone 2 million every year? How many times have you seen him headlining a show whose sole purpose is to document his life?

No he is not. Pacquiao is great for boxing. Its the screw ups behind the scenes who mess up the sport politically... The Sulaiman's, Arum's, WBA, even HBO believe it or not.... These people keep fighters away from eachother, organize undeserving title fights, guarantee ridiculous paydays to undeserving fighters, create super duper belts and platinum belts, sign contracts with one stable guaranteeing them all their fights on tv. Its all this **** that ****s up boxing... Why blame Pac? He comes to **** and everyone leaves happy. He does his job. Everyone else needs to start being held accountable. What boxing needs is a governing body with boxers having agents to negotiate and for fights to be on ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, TNT on primetime. National tv coverage, ONE recognized belt in each weight class, blood testing, and mandatory defenses!!!!!Comment

I would love to see that in the bold. That would really help the sport as well. Why blame Pac? He comes to **** and everyone leaves happy. He does his job. lol "featured" on a multitude of american tv programs...those programs have 3-4 guests a night and are on 5 nights a week...I think he was on Jimmy Kimmel last night, which is like one of the lowest rated late night talk shows of all of them. Pacquiao has a great PR machine, I will give him that, but if you really think America gives a **** about Pacquiao at all you are sadly mistaken...little kids aren't playing at recess pretending to be Manny Pacquiao...this isn't Philippines...What are you talking about?

The USA has 307 million people...1975000/307000000= .6 of a percent of americans between two PPVs
Compare that to Baseball, Basketball or Football attendance figures or viewership.Last edited by Saddlebred; 04-28-2011, 11:14 AM.Comment
