Pac's upper weight success = wing chun???

I get where everyone sees the comparison from the way Pac angles his fist to punch and to his machine gun-like combos down the center line.
I think his style was more born out of necessity than actually trying to consciously emulate a specific person or style(Not ruling out that he might've been subconsciously influenced by Bruce Lee or any other kung-fu movie he's seen). I am sure Manny knew his best attribute was speed early on, so he built his earlier and rougher style to maximizing that advantage. Figuring that throwing the punch that has less distance to travel would allow him to throw more punches seems only natural.
Like we've heard numerous times over the years, I think it's just more of the case that Manny's the only fighter that can fight the way he does and be successful.
Now for some afternoon entertainment.
A clip from the movie Ip Man about Bruce Lee's teacher Yip Man.
Yip -> Bruce -> Pac

Have both of the Ip Man I and II (And the one preceding this with some of th same cast but entirely a different movie...Ip Man's childhood). So all three of them as a Wing Chun Fan being a former JKD student.... (not into Tai Chi)...
I also saw that clip when Pacquiao watching Ip Man and readily recognized that...and yes I agree with your posting that though he wasn't practicing WC, he knows his speed is his asset and thus the similarity towards the WC's CENTERLINE ATTACK:
• the closest distance between Point A and Point B is a direct centerline Attack
And so that shows that WC's effecitivity is deeply rooted from that. To counter hooks one would ask?
• Pivoting the one's centerline like in the middle of a circle and hitting first before the opponent arrives with a TAN SAU (asking hand) or BONG SAU (like a SHOULDER ROLL hand)...
or the FMA way:
• Angle with the footwork (45 degrees) away from the attack...and thus we can see Pacquiao using both WING CHUN and FMA way to attack:
The MIDDLE/CENTER and/or the OUTSIDE.Comment

But I think the OP meant that "technically" Pacquiao is utilizing the WC-like techniques of Center Line Attack and vicious machine-gun like combo.
And so with the "speed advantage / strength and the training like an animal" as you put it, Roach, Ariza and Manny put it all together to have a comprehensive fight preparation and plan.
Don't forget the shaolin-like stick training for the mind and body to deter the pain and being able to focus....
And thus many Eastern thoughts and practices are being put to use here.....Comment

We know he's a big celebrity with alot of connections and we know he's a big bruce lee fan. Would it be that big of a stretch to think bruce lee's daughter or someone connected to ip tsun offered to show pac a few things on his off time and he's found ways to incorporate them into his fight style? I mean the official bruce lee website has advertised pac's upcoming fights the past couple of years
Bruce Lee's last private student was Ted Wong - who was the instructor of Teri Tom - who is the dietician for Manny and works alongside Alex Ariza. This is her measuring his abs:
There was a quote from MPBoxing that said they were working with the Bruce Lee site and Shannon Lee (his daughter) does mention Manny quite a few times on her blog.
But in all honesty, the only martial arts he's probably learned is while filming Wapakman and all those corny Filipino action flicks.Comment

You people make me sick with ur martial arts crap..take that somewhere else. For whatever reason Pacquiao is successful--don't attribute somehow to Wing Bull Chung or FMA=For Mediocre Athletes backgrounds...honestly....the absurdity...the centerline attack can be seen in boxing through the decades.Comment

But I do agree that Wing Chun is an ineffective Martial Art.......Like a alot of traditional Martial Arts such as Karate are really bad versions of Mauy Thai....

Well there you go. Clear evidence that Modern Boxing is older than all of the past martial arts.
