That dont take away from Duran. Hes got enough good wins on his resume to be taken seriously.
Marquez or Barrera wouldn't have much of a chance at beating Duran. I doubt they would even go the distance. We're are talking at Lightweight right?

And Duran would outbox the bigger Margarito fairly easily.

Laing was a huge upset, but his style was nothing like Margarito's. Nothing.

Laing was a slick boxer with good movement and had a lot of potential, just wasn't motivated enough to be a star.

    • Manny Pacquaio is a career super featherweight, fighting legitimate welterweights and dominating them.

      SRL was a welterweight/middleweight fighting welterweights/middleweights.

Both fighters victories have to be put into perspective. Pacquiao is a small man beating up good, strong, big men. He has achieved what no one gave him a chance of doing just a few years ago.

SRL has the better names on his record, but Pacquaio will make it a close call if he beats Mayweather. Although this will probably be denied to him, as Mayweather is scared to lose his 0.

      • What's most sickening about this thread is people bringing up names like Margarito and Clottey, then going on to say Leonard only has Haggler, Duran and Hearns on his resume. As though the likes of Lalonde, Benitez and Kalule count for nothing.

        • SRL has the bigger names on his resume ATG wise. pac's resume at 122-130 over HOFers may not hold a candle, but his DOMINATION over much much bigger men, which only a few could've done somehow balances it out.

          • Sugar Ray Leonard is a legend. Floyd and Pac's resumes combined can not top what Leonard has done. Who has Pac or Floyd beat that is half as good as a young, prime, undefeated ww Hearns? Leonard would jump at the opportunity to KO Martinez if he was fighting today.

McClarnin did not fight any fighter like a Morales, JMM or a MAB. Duran lost to alot of the better fighters he fought ( benitez, hearns, Hagler, SRL 2 out of 3 times)
Yes McLarnin did fight and beat guys like Morales, JMM, and MAB. Matter of of fact he beat some guys that were better than those 3 were as well.

And, McLarnin didn't have the luxury to of having more than one belt in a division.

                      So what's your point?
