On the other hand, most people can see Pac would be favoured of beating Duran, Benitez, and Hearns as well.
    Who are those people?

I dont think he beats them--not one of them.

Nowadays ''champions'' are seen as prospects. Using Victor Ortiz as an example, people will still say he is too green to fight the top guys at 147lb. Whilst it is true one would think a champ should be ready to fight anyone in their division.

On the topic, Leonard has the better resume, it is not even close.

      • I can't believe some people actually rate the DLH fight.

        • titles and awards.....

          division titles:
          pac- 8(only man to do it)....srl -5
if you dont want to include pac's sww title then you shoul'dnt include leoard's lh title ....leonard won two div titles in one fight which is ridiculous to say the least...

          fighter of the year award:
          pac -3 ..... leonard - 2

          lineal div titles:

pac - 4 (only man to do it)....leonard - not more than 3

div titles out of the original 8

          pac -4....srl - 3

both won fighter of the decade...

          again pac >>>>>srl...

??? That still doesn't prove your point though, actually it doesn't make much sense, how does Lamotta fighting Robinson so many times and losing more then winning helps your argument and more importantly how does it helps Lamotta's Resume?

Don't matter if Ray Leonard wins were Controversial...they still go down as WINS, I never even like Leonard because I was a Hagler fans, but that Fantastic 4 ERA is better the anything Manny and Mayweather had to get past. You can hype up Morales, JMM, Barrerra ALL YOU WANT, that still won't match up to all of those LEGENDS fighting each other. Nobody is saying that Manny's Resume is not good, it is just not as good as Leonard's and Leonard has the advantage because his ERA had 3 fighters that would go on to be ALL TIME GREATS.

Benitez? Don't know that he belongs with the 4 obvious choices. Hearns, Hagler, Duran, Leonard. Also, Hagler's career should have been longer to see a clearer picture. (Reason why he is left off a lot of top 50 lists)

Kind of hard to compare some of those guys though, they all fought in higher weight divisions than Manny's competition.

But Manny has an impressive list.

              JMM 2X
              MAB 2X
              Morales 3X
              Oscar De La Hoya
              Shane Mosely next week.

Those guys are top 50 all time.

              Leonard

              Marvin 1X
              Duran 3X
              Hearns 2X

I mean, on a top 50 basis, Manny has more fights. Though, I would agree Leonards divisions had more depth than Mannys do today. But I also think Manny takes more hard fights than Leonard.

Example. He didn't rematch Hearns right away (in fact, he waited 8 years, in a ridiculous fight which he clearly lost and somehow got a draw). Not surprising given how the first match went, after all, who wants to shorten their career against a fighter who will give them issues.

By comparison, the longest delay rematch Manny had was with JMM. 4 years. And he rematched Morales almost immediately after losing to him. And again almost immediately after beating him.

Manny will have fought 18 times now over 7 years at the very highest level (ever since MAB fight).

Leonard only fought 13 times over 10 years if you consider the Benetiz fight the beginning of the higher level.

I gave the edge to Leonard, but it's not an open and shut case.
