ortiz should fight madaino next and then continue to build and develop his
skills and boxing abilities before trying to get mayweather or pac
after fighting berto, althou limited skills wise, is fast as all shiiiiiit, fighting
maidano next will be like watching punches come at him in slow motion
i think at 147 and as of today ortiz beats madaina into submission at this
point...
at 147 ortiz is a physical beast, fast, strong, powerful and great buzz with
all his punches along with intense aggression, he did not have that aggression
in the later rounds at 140 due to weight difficulties
go look at pics of the differences in physicality at 140 and 147 along with
some fights and watch the later rounds..
maidana is a bulldog, but dont forget he is limited skill wise and for
5 of 12 rounds an old, shop worn morales put on a boxing lesson and almost
got him out in the 8th roundComment

The new WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz has ripped into Marcos Maidana when asked about a possible rematch of their June 2009 rumble. Ortiz and Maidana traded knockdowns before Ortiz was stopped in the sixth round. The WBC mandatory challenger is Selcuk Aydin, who Ortiz says he is willing to face if Golden Boy Promotions presents that fight. Ortiz would prefer to get the huge mega-fights with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

Ortiz should at least try to get revenge against Maidana. Let's face it, he is years away from being ready to fight Mayweather and Pacquiao. He gets hits entirely too much and his defense is awful! He won't win the type of fight he fought against Berto versus Pacquiao. That would be a career killer. (See Fernando Vargas vs Tito Trinidad for a great example of a good prospect with a world title in hand getting ruined by a guy he should have never been in the ring with in the first place). Againist Floyd, he will be schooled for a lopsided 12 round decision. I don't believe he would beat Zab Judah or JMM. If Ortiz is serious about fighting top notch guys, and he's apparently not intrested at a chance to avenge the Maidana loss, there's a name out there he will never mention and it just so happens that he is coming back to welterweight, how about Paul Williams? Enjoy your victory Ortiz! As soon as you get in the ring with a legitimate fighter, your title reign will be short lived.Last edited by Mikie; 04-23-2011, 10:50 PM.Comment

hey Ortiz STFU!, put up or shut up.. once a quitter is always a quitter in my eyes, Maidana spanks him again in a rematch..

The win over Berto really sounds like it is going to Ortiz's head----I'd like to see Maidana knock a little more humility into the man

It's going to his head. Defend against your mandatory (which Berto wouldn't fight) and then rematch Maidiana and you'll get more respect.Comment
