The time to make the Guzman was like around the fall of 2007. Maybe in November of that year. That was the perfect time to make that fight.

The rematch with Barrera was unnecessary. Not only was the first fight just a dominating performance. And, not only was Barrera coming of a LOSS. But, he had showed he had slowed down a lot. The way he struggled with Rocky Juarez in the first fight. He just wasn't the same fighter.

There was no need for a Barrera rematch at that time. Nobody was asking for it. NOBODY. At that time if you were going to have a rematch with anybody, it was going to be a rematch with JMM not Barrara.

At the time he fought Barrera the top 3 at 130, was Pac, JMM, and Guzman. Guzman was undefeated and the WBO title holder. Before the Pac-Barrera II match happened. Guzman wrote a letter asking, challenging, begging for a fight against Pac.

Also lets not forget that Pac was Guzman mandatory after KO'ing Morales in the third fight. And, Pac being the #1 contender for Guzman title, instead of challenging the champ he fought an un-ranked Jorge Solis on a Top Rank independent PPV.

Guzman's open letter to Pacquiao after he knocked out Morales in 3 and before Pacquiao decided to fight an unranked Jorge Solis:

Open Letter From Joan Guzman: Dear Mr. Pacquiao: Magnificent. Stupendous. Flawless. That is how you performed Saturday night in Las Vegas against Erik Morales. I write first to congratulate you on a brilliant fight.

Second, I write you, Pacman, to remind you that I believe I am the world's best at 130 pounds. I am sure we can agree to disagree and that and that your fans will similarly disagree with mine on that same point.

As you know, I am the WBO champion and you are the #1 mandatory. I have a title defense upcoming in my homeland, the Dominican Republic on December 18 as a part of the biggest boxing show ever held there. Should I be successful in that bout, I have made it clear to my manager, Jose Nunez, and to my co-promoters that I want them to work to make Guzman vs. Pacman for March, 2007.

There can be no doubt now that you and I are the world's best two fighters at 130 pounds. The question that must be answered is who is the better man in that ring, me or you? It is a super fight and a fight fan's dream.

Let's settle this one in March. All the best to you and your legion of loyal fans.

    Sincerely,

    JOAN GUZMAN
    UNDEFEATED WBO JR. LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION
And, Guzman wrote other letters challenging Pac as well.

At that time they weren't ruling anything.

At 126, Barrera was. And, fighting Morales at 130 after JMM straight turned down a 750k payday(his highest at the time) to fight in Indonesia for 35k was not a bad fight. And, even though Morales lost to Raheem at 135, I had no problem with Pac fighting Morales the 2nd time. I understand wanting to avenge a loss.

However, the third fight with Morales was unnecessary, nobody was calling for it, the rematch with Barrera was unnecessary and nobody was calling for it, they weren't ruling anything. And, really neither EVER ruled the 130 division.

The third fight with Morales and the 2nd fight with Barrera were just useless fights.

I think you mean Oscar Larios not Solis. Solis is a natural 130 pound fighter who was undefeated but unranked. While Larios was a natural 122 pounder who got stopped by Izzy Vazquez and moved up to 130 to fight Pac.

No, no one considered them riskier than Guzman at the time. Morales was so risky he got stopped in 3 rounds in that unnecessary third match and Barrera was busy struggling with a Juarez who got his azz cut by Soto earlier and easier. So no, no one thought they were riskier than Guzman at the time, except d*ckriding fans like yourself who make feminine threads about how worried they are for Manny's health and how all the "distractions" that could hurt him.

Guzman didn't fight at 126 that much, but neither did Pac. I think his management (Pac's) didn't wanna take a gamle, knowing just how good and clever a boxer Guzman was.

Yup, that's who I was thinking of. And all that didn't create a stir because prior to the first Morales bout, Manny was on an incredible run. So like everyone else, I waited diligently while he went on his victory tour. But I really started questioning **** when he fought Erik the third time. Then Barrera a second time over Guzman or Soto? That struck a nerve. The same thing is happening now except at least back then, Manny fought Marquez after then came the move up.

They aren't useless if your goal is to make money. MAB and Morales had the drawing power for big PPVs.

And let's face it, Guzman was a better challenge than the fading Barrera and the emaciated Morales who got battered by Raheem.
When did Raheem batter Morales? The one I watched, Raheem outpointed Morales by running around.

The realy question is who even gave a *** about this fight in 2007 much less 2011. Nobody outside of a few knownothing ******s on the message board ever really cared about it.

Hooray you can name drop some obscure dominican fighter nobody cares about! Still doesn't make him a valid match up for Pac!
