I dont know Dazed. I love Ortiz. I was trying to tell people that the kid would bounce back but a Floyd fight? I think its too soon.

Now he waxed Berto pretty good. Real good. But it will be so hard to actually land those bombs on Floyd Mayweather. Berto also basically threw no body punches. Floyd rips lefties to the body. All of them.

Ortiz would find out quick that he would be in over his head against Mayweather.

second, he will not sneak in a win against Pac. Don't be ******. Pac will ruin his whatever is left of his career.
Chances are you're right about the promotion issue but just a better matchup comparing skills. As far as how that fight would go, Ortiz wouldnt bum rush him and look for openings unlike his other opponents. His respect for Pac would help him more than anything. He's young, he's big and has underrated power and skills. I just think he stands a better chance with PAC because Manny will come straight at him and thats what he needs to look good. Floyd's big trouble because Ortiz hasnt fought any guys that really moved. He fought Peterson that could move but decided to stand in there. If he gets some practice against (for lack of a better word) some "slick" fighters then he is much tougher than a tune-up for even Floyd. Its no diss on PAC but I really see something special with Ortiz. I wouldnt put my money on him to win but its just the odds would be better.

But, I think both Khan and Bradley can beat Ortiz.

Ortiz best shot would be against Khan though. However, I would slightly favor Khan in that fight.
Ortiz probaly knocks KHAN out but after losing a few pitty pat rounds. It would be harder for Khan to flee when a guy is equal or greater in size. Khan shouldnt come to 147 for his health. Bradley may get KOed against Ortiz. We forget that Vic can really box and combined with his ability to take a punch he will counter Bradley's wide punches.

          • I'm not suggesting Victor Ortiz can beat Floyd Mayweather nor am I suggesting he is ready to fight Floyd Mayweather. I don't believe any of those things.

I'm asking; Do you see this fight happening and is it legit?

The general consensus is it's an unlikely match-up.

I think its likely. They are both GBP. Oscar and Schafer will surely try to make this fight. ASAP.

Ortiz put on a show against Berto that put the boxing world on notice. Hes the WBC WW Champion and Floyd loves those green belts. They will fight.

              • If Floyd fights Ortiz and whips his ass for 12 rounds people will just hate on and say Ortiz isn't really **** anyway. Lose/Lose fight for Floyd here. Ortiz will need a couple more fights at this pace for the haters to realize his the real deal.

                • after seeing the peterson fight and the berto fight, id say ortiz is proly as ready as he'll every be. but does that mean he wins? not likely. but i didnt think hed win the berto fight either, so i wouldnt really underestimate the kid.

but this is a fight id definitely wanna see...the stylistic clash is something to look forward to should the fight be made. ortiz is a true form southpaw boxer-puncher, something berto/shane arent regardless of what they say.

Remember he's only a kid. Has only been in 1 fight where he was badly tested and he quit. Fair enough that was a while ago and I believe he has improved mentally and physically since then. But I just don't think he is ready to really test Pac or Floyd.

Yeah, he upset Berto. Props for that, I wasn't all suprised but still, props. But, Berto isn't Pac or Floyd..

But in terms of a legit opponent. I think it is.

Now, before we all get carried away and start slating Floyd Mayweather. This thread to merely ask, Why not?

I am not suggesting this fight is going to happen, nor do I think it will. It most likely won't.

My queston is; Why not? Do we see this as a likely option?

Would it not be a perfect tuneup for Manny Pacqiauo? Considering Victor Ortiz is a strong, fast, southpaw? Which at 147, it seems he is a much more active fighter.

He is now a title holder at 147, coming off the best win of his career AND is under Golden Boy Promotions.

And on top of all that, Victor Ortiz is not a difficult fight for Floyd Mayweather and I doubt Floyd believes it will be either, which means I can only presume he won't mind fighting him for his comeback fight.

Throw the fact he was sat ringside for the fight also.

Again, I reiterate; Why not? I can't see a single roadblock for why this fight couldn't be made.

                      Thoughts? Could this happen?

I'd love to see this fight....though after his performance on the weekend i don't think we could call it a tuneup, it would be a legit fight and perfect preparation for MP.

I think it depends on whether GBP want it to happen right NOW. They have alot of momentum with Vic, which could stop if he get's completely dominated by Mayweather. Maybe they want to use the buzz for a few fights before somethign like this happens. On the other hand if Ortiz puts in a solid performacne against Floyd he will get even morer recognition.
