GBP will make a lot of money for Mayweather-Ortiz, but it's probably not worth it for them if it's just a likely defeat for Ortiz and then Mayweather goes on to fight Pacquiao and GBP is not involved.
    That's a good point.

Then again, If Mayweather fights Manny, win or lose, it will be his last fight, IMO.

Maybe Golden Boy would like one last big Mayweather payday before he fights Manny?

    Just a suggestion.

From what I hear it was a hell of a fight. I'm surprised Ortiz won, I didn't think he had it in him. Props to Ortiz.

But, Mayweather is a total different animal than Berto is. There is nobody at WW right now, that has a chance to beat Mayweather besides Pac.

Saying all that, Ortiz is a legit tune up for Floyd. I like this fight. And, Floyd does like the WBC belt. He might go after this. I never thought Floyd would go after Berto because of the Al Haymon connection.

And, Ortiz being with GBP is a fight that can be made quite easily. However, the wildcard is GBP. Would they do this. I think Ortiz will jump at the opportunity no doubt. But, will GBP cash out on Ortiz? Or not that Ortiz seems rejuvenated try to make him into a star. Lets not forget that GBP put a lot of stock on Ortiz before the Maidana incident. Ortiz was suppose to be the next best thing. Will GBP move him in that direction or feed him to Floyd? I don't know that's a tough decision in GBP part.

Oh and Ortiz vs Mike Jones is not likely cuz' of Jones connection with Top Rank. And, the feud between Top Rank and GBP would not make that happen. However, Ortiz-Malignaggi be a fight that might happen is a safe fight for Ortiz since Malignaggi can't punch through paper bag and you have Ortiz vs the Khan-Bradley winner, however that might be a dangerous fight for Ortiz. And, if you going to give Ortiz a dangerous fight might as well feed him to Floyd and cash out instead of risking him losing to a lesser fighter for less money.

But, if they will start banking on Ortiz and try to make him a star again. Then really you have to give him safe fights. Against Malignaggi or the other weaker title holders. I will stay away from dangerous fights like the Khan-Bradley winner. That's a fight that Ortiz could lose. And, if you going to give him a fight that he could lose, then might as well have him fight Floyd. That would be a no brainer.
By no means am I suggesting that Victor Ortiz has a chance to beat Floyd Mayweather, he doesn't.

I'm just thinking, to me, this seems like a perfect tune up. He's a strong, fast southpaw, easy to negotiate, a title holder and is with GBP. A roadblock is the fact GBP may not want to cash out on Ortiz like you touched on. But I'm thinking if this is going to be Floyd's last fight before a possible fight with Manny, then GoldenBoy may grab whatever they can take. Don't you think?

Except, Floyd is not my idol. He is not even my favourite fighter.

Don't put my in the same sentance as the moronic Floyd Mayweather fans because that isn't me, bro.

And Manny Pacqiuao is the best fighter in the world right now, of course people are going to be matching Pacqiauo with every name in the book. This has happened for decades and decades. I have seen hundreds of Manny Pacqiauo's come and go. When you are on top, that's just how it is. Can't really expect it not to be like that..

There is money to be made in that fight.I don't know why anyone that saw Ortiz in action last night would say that.Candidate for fight of the year & before Maidana he was a rising star, that's a big money fight if Floyd is willing.

Obviously I'm talking about if he comes back, is this a tune up you see happening.

Kind of says that in the opening post.

Who the hell knows what Mayweather plans on doing? Just like with Berto, I don't care that Ortiz would lose I just want to see Mayweather fighting these guys.

Honestly... I don't see Floyd signing on or even remotely negotiating any fight BEFORE May 7th... His nickname is MONEY and its what he's all about. He would be losing money by signing onto a fight now. If Pac wins... I think negotiations will start up again. Whether there is enough MONEY to keep MONEY happy is something else. If that can't be made I would love to see him fight Cotto/Martinez/Khan/Alvarez/Ortiz. I for one have always drooled of a Floyd vs Cotto match... Just because of their styles. Surpringsly I think Khan would present Floyd with the most trouble. It has been well documented that Khan has overwhelmed Pacman with superior speed in several sparring sessions according to Freddie Roach. But Floyd's accuracy would thwart that chin. Maybe since Top Rank fighters are on a losing streak right now Bob will come to the table a little less aggressive and make Floyd vs Pac... Pac will take the tests I think. Its just Bob. Floyd will take the offer... he's smart and he knows he won't get 100 milli from NOBODY

                    I agree.

Do you see this fight as a possible match up?

Like I said, who the hell knows? I would love to see it. Ortiz has potential to ba major draw and was going to be one before the Maidana fight, so he fits that bill for Mayweather. He's also now the top welterweight besides Pacquiao that Mayweather could fight. I just don't know what criteria Mayweather is looking for to coax him back in the ring.
