GBP will make a lot of money for Mayweather-Ortiz, but it's probably not worth it for them if it's just a likely defeat for Ortiz and then Mayweather goes on to fight Pacquiao and GBP is not involved.
highly doubt floyd would turn his back on GBP like that. and who the **** is ARUM? he cant dictate ****. all he can do is either sign to make the fight or conitinue to refuse like he has been. but if floyd and pac fight, GBP will be invlved

I don't think the money is there. I find Victor vs Floyd unlikely due to money circumstances.

Ortiz would have to get Floyd out of there before the 10th...we have seen him get too comfortable against Peterson and give the victory away in the late rounds. I'm not sure wether Victor can stop Floyd before the 10th, Floyd's got a good chin and ofc there's that defense of his. And he better watch he doesn't get hit with those rights that sent him down against Berto twice.

Make it happen. Like u said, why not??? Gbp could get a deal done easy if Mayweather wanted it. Might not be a mega payday for Floyd but **** it. Ortiz vs Mayweather won't be a sluggfest like Ortiz vs Berto so I kinda like Pacquiao vs Ortiz a little better. That would be an action packed fight.

i didn't say anything about his output... i said he goes forward. you've never seen him fight a southpaw the way he fought castillio, de la hoya, or baldomir. he stands in front of them and walks forward more often than not.
What? His 9th pro fight? Is that really something to go off?

Because he has never fought a southpaw which had such a huge size advantage over him like those 3 did. That's why.

And he goes forward in alot of his fights, especially at 130 considering you are bringing up the first Chavez fight.

Now, before we all get carried away and start slating Floyd Mayweather. This thread to merely ask, Why not?

I am not suggesting this fight is going to happen, nor do I think it will. It most likely won't.

My queston is; Why not? Do we see this as a likely option?

Would it not be a perfect tuneup for Manny Pacqiauo? Considering Victor Ortiz is a strong, fast, southpaw? Which at 147, it seems he is a much more active fighter.

He is now a title holder at 147, coming off the best win of his career AND is under Golden Boy Promotions.

And on top of all that, Victor Ortiz is not a difficult fight for Floyd Mayweather and I doubt Floyd believes it will be either, which means I can only presume he won't mind fighting him for his comeback fight.

Throw the fact he was sat ringside for the fight also.

Again, I reiterate; Why not? I can't see a single roadblock for why this fight couldn't be made.

                      Thoughts? Could this happen?
                      Floyd is retired.....
