I'm going to download the Ortiz-Berto fight tonight. I missed it, just got off work.

From what I hear it was a hell of a fight. I'm surprised Ortiz won, I didn't think he had it in him. Props to Ortiz.

But, Mayweather is a total different animal than Berto is. There is nobody at WW right now, that has a chance to beat Mayweather besides Pac.

Saying all that, Ortiz is a legit tune up for Floyd. I like this fight. And, Floyd does like the WBC belt. He might go after this. I never thought Floyd would go after Berto because of the Al Haymon connection.

And, Ortiz being with GBP is a fight that can be made quite easily. However, the wildcard is GBP. Would they do this. I think Ortiz will jump at the opportunity no doubt. But, will GBP cash out on Ortiz? Or not that Ortiz seems rejuvenated try to make him into a star. Lets not forget that GBP put a lot of stock on Ortiz before the Maidana incident. Ortiz was suppose to be the next best thing. Will GBP move him in that direction or feed him to Floyd? I don't know that's a tough decision in GBP part.

Oh and Ortiz vs Mike Jones is not likely cuz' of Jones connection with Top Rank. And, the feud between Top Rank and GBP would not make that happen. However, Ortiz-Malignaggi be a fight that might happen is a safe fight for Ortiz since Malignaggi can't punch through paper bag and you have Ortiz vs the Khan-Bradley winner, however that might be a dangerous fight for Ortiz. And, if you going to give Ortiz a dangerous fight might as well feed him to Floyd and cash out instead of risking him losing to a lesser fighter for less money.

But, if they will start banking on Ortiz and try to make him a star again. Then really you have to give him safe fights. Against Malignaggi or the other weaker title holders. I will stay away from dangerous fights like the Khan-Bradley winner. That's a fight that Ortiz could lose. And, if you going to give him a fight that he could lose, then might as well have him fight Floyd. That would be a no brainer.

I think Mayweather would beat him by UD but yeah I guess it would be a decent match up on paper to get people to order it, just like Berto wasn't ready for Pacquiao or Mayweather...NEITHER IS ORTIZ!

First of all he will not fight Pac. I think that's obvious due to the promotional conflict.

second, he will not sneak in a win against Pac. Don't be ******. Pac will ruin his whatever is left of his career.

He has a high guard and good defense and foot movement. He mixes up his attack, and is a pretty decent boxer. He punches like a mule. He has a great chin and an awesome ability to recover. He is relentless. And after the ridicule for him quitting in the Maidana fight, his heart is among the best in boxing in my opinion. What else... Do you need anything else? And this is coming from a huge Floyd fan.
No Ortiz can not win that fight. Floyd is a different animal compare to Berto man.

          Floyd would eat him up.

But, is a decent tune up.

Is a fight that team Mayweather should want. I don't know if GBP should/would want it though.

Great post, Jro. It was one hell of a fight. It's my main vote for FOTY.

              I don't like it...

Ortiz didn't show anything in this fight that leade me to believe he could handle Floyd (or Manny).... Give him his credit, and once Floyd and Manny r out of the picture, he could very well be the 'standard' at welterweight, but Manny and Floyd r so much above the competition around them (especially the next gen up-n-comers) there's no point of them fighting any of them. They should either fight eachother or retire.

I was very happy for Ortiz tonight and he fought very very well.

that being said.....even the gassed looking, no legs having Berto was finding holes when he got off the ropes and boxed

Floyd could weather the flurries and time him way too easy............

so the fight will probably get signed

That fight would make Floyd's accuracy look highly more efficient than it is.

Actually a good fight... Personally I pick Maidana rematch (Berto rematch should also be good)

Let's not forget Brandon Rios and maybe even Guerrero

And top it all of with Khan
