Ortiz vs. BamBam, is too early Lori. Bam, needs a lil more time to fill out and become a WW, Vic is no more good at 140. 147 is where he belongs hand has been for atleast his last 3 fights, which is my belief as to why he looked so great last night. Sometimes fighters over stay a weight class. I believe that Vic over stayed his time at JWW.

Your side note my dear, is absolutely 100% spot on though. I was yellin at his brother to shut the hell up, his paw was doin some yellin too(You could hear him in the background). He defo has to clean up his corner, which he should see after he re-watches the fight.

To be honest Chief, the main reason I say bring on Ortiz/Rios is for pure excitement. The two obviously dislike each other and whole heartedly have something to prove against each other. I think it would be a straigh out war with neither one backing down. Rios is another one coming up in the ranks who is regarded to be one of the best up and coming lightweights at this time. I love to see fights based on a real desire to beat the other because of bad blood and they have a long history with a lot of issues being somewhat aired in the media. I just think it would be an exciting fight with the old adage of "Prove it in the ring once and for all" and not the "I'm better then him" "No, I'm better then him" mantra and then neither one ever ends up fighting the other. I know Vic is not going back down in weight, nor do I think he should. Only hoping somewhere down the line, if Rios continues to dominate at 140 that he will move up and fight Victor since they have real live issues between them that could be sorted out somewhat in the ring, and we could all have a front row seat to see it LOL. Hey, atleast they'd finally be able to hit each other.... what better therapy could they get than that?? LOL Besides, how many times have we seen guys with real hate or dislike for each other with a history between them go in and outright brawl - and at the end of the night they got respect for each other and huggin each other with respect and squash their beef. To me, that's the way real men air their issues (i.e. not with guns and knives and ****).

And as far as the "Berto is a hype job" disagreements here, I think some people misunderstand what "hype job" means like the way Romey is trying to explain it. I don't think (if I'm correct) that he's saying that Berto is without skills or talent. I think he's saying (and I agree) that he's a hype job in the sense that he IS NOT what has been advertised by HBO and Team Berto as far as money equals being the best. People seem to think that everyone who says "hype job" means their saying he doesn't have any skills, and in this case I think it's more of him being a hype job in the sense that any undefeated fighter who is moved very carefully and is overpaid for that job can be made to look better than he really is. Romey, you can correct me if I'm way of base here...

Side note: I think a rematch will be imperitive for Berto and who knows he could make this loss be a positive. Who knows, maybe it will turn in to a thrilling trilogy with both guys improving their defects tremendously. But something about the way Berto said in his post fight interview when Merchant said to him "It was a good fight".... Berto said "Well, maybe for you". I could be taking this wrong, but somethng in the way he answered that sounded like he wasn't thrilled with the idea of fighting any tough competitors anytime in the near future. But, I'm gonna try to cut him some slack and assume he was just disappointed in the loss. He just better not start going back down in level of competition or respect will be lost by a lot of fans.

I think Berto started believing some of his own hype (I'm not saying he doesn't have talent, but...) and thought he was gonna get Victor out of there early. When that didn't happen then he was going through the Collazo nightmare all over again. Goes to show ya that these fighters and their promoters aren't doing them any real favors by putting them in with so many light touches. It's happening more and more with these undefeated fighters fighting easy marks and when they step up they gettin all shocked by reality. I really thought Berto would say that he lost because "Victor fought dirty" but glad he didn't. I wouldn't be too surprised to read someone from his team say it in the days to come though. Berto said he just wasn't himself tonight but the truth is that it's because Victor was actually live competition for him for the first time tonight (or since Collazo, but he got lucky and won that one).

That being said..... BRING ON ORTIZ VS BAM BAM RIOS!!!!! I don't care at what weight

Side note: Berto's corner was chaos tonight... they weren't doing him any favors - with his trainer trying to talk to him and his brother yelling in his ear at the same time while the corner man was trying to work on him.... He really needs to sort that **** out in the future.

This whole post is spot on,I believe people got it and knew what I was talking about..I just think a lot of people are a lil hurt by Berto's lost and want to pretend like I was bashing him..When in all realness I've been very clear for a while on this forum that I believe Berto has not fought up to his ability and it will come back to hunt him..Which it did..But great post I could not have said it better myself..

When Maidana won a close fight against Morales, you didn't see anybody calling Maidana overhyped. Despite the fact that everyone thought Maidana was gonna wipe the floor with Morales. Everybody just praised the fight and praised Morales for his performance after being the underdog, and people still think Maidana is a top 140 guy after struggling with a shot Morales.


Now, Berto was supposed to wipe the floor with Ortiz, but lost a close decision in a 4-knockdown, 12 round fight where bombs were thrown all over the place. Berto is overhyped, he'd lose to every one at WW, and he was never a champion. Yet it's much worst to barely beat a 2011 Morales than losing to a 24 year Victor Ortiz who outweighed Berto by 5 pounds on fight night and was clearly the bigger man, and nobody says anything about the fight just being a good fight and that both fighters gave us a fight to remember like they praise Maidana-Morales.

berto is an overpaid hype-job and was supposed to crush the mentally defeated ortiz.

there's a huge difference between the two fights and the two fighters.
