Not sure if berto has really been hyped too much, but kirkland or the mini tyson definitely is!!

Smacked around by a light punching guy and finished in one, damn but a lot of people had him winning world titles and dominating, that dude will never go beyond american domestic level, hes too limited by the looks of things

Yes they can, but to call a man a hype job just because he got beat is just BS to me.
Berto went to war with Ortiz. It's not like he got Ko'd.

The key word is ENJOY right?
Now did you not ENJOY the Berto vs Ortiz fight? How the hell are you a hype job just because you lost a tough war? Give Ortiz some credit for fighting the fight of his life. Ortiz and Berto both got off the canvas and and went to war for twelve rounds.

Instead of dissing these fighters we should be praising them because as fans thats what we want to see.

Oh and by the way did you know that Berto fought with a broken bone in his right hand from the second round on? Thats called heart not hype.

Once again dude you are off topic,I did not just start calling Berto a hype job..I've said this since his fight with Collazo..Both times he step his level up he has looked average, this was a guy that most were saying should get a shot at Pac(although he proved nothing in his career)and was demanding all kinds of crazy ****..He was clearly being hype by HBO and his handlers, but was not taking any risk..He is a hype job imo,I hope I cleared it up for you this based on resume..Now Ill wait for ya respones now that ya know what the topic is about..

Some people are acting like the thread title reads "Berto is a hype job BECAUSE he lost to Ortiz" when, if people will actually read the thread, the word "hype job" was directed towards Berto because of his teams unwillingness to put him in there with worthy opponents and once he stepped up and took on better competition - he lost.

See how this works? Someone deflects the blame off on to another fighter and then suddenly it's not even about Berto. The topic at hand has nothing to do with what another boxer has done and everything to do with what Berto hasn't done. Maybe if Berto had fought Maidana himself then you could compare the two, but that's kindof the point... he didn't.
Lorily you make to much sense don't expect a respones unless it the Chief..Once again like always a lovely read..

Everybody just praised the fight and praised Morales for his performance after being the underdog, and people still think Maidana is a top 140 guy after struggling with a shot Morales.

Now, Berto was supposed to wipe the floor with Ortiz, but lost a close decision in a 4-knockdown, 12 round fight where bombs were thrown all over the place. Berto is overhyped, he'd lose to every one at WW, and he was never a champion. Yet it's much worst to barely beat a 2011 Morales than losing to a 24 year Victor Ortiz who outweighed Berto by 5 pounds on fight night and was clearly the bigger man, and nobody says anything about the fight just being a good fight and that both fighters gave us a fight to remember like they praise Maidana-Morales.

You do realize the reason maidana doesnt get the hypejob treatment because everybody knows he is a no skilled, flat footed, chinny, lack of stamina boxer. He lost to Kotelnik, Khan and arguably Morrales and was struggling against a shot corley. Add the fact that he straight out ducked Bradley with the fake injury. Nobody ranks maidana highly especially when he never held any of the belts.

Berto was hype as being a future great boxer. He was already getting paid millions of dollar. It got to the point people were saying he was a threat to pacquaio or shane even though if you see berto fought before that you would've known he had poor stamina, one handed and has questionable chin and fights ******. He was exposed by Collazo and was didnt even give collazo a rematch. Add the fact they ever since that fight he was fed lww fighters and shot fighters even though he was a WBC beltholder that he won from vacancy against bum. Add the fact Berto was believing his own hype and felt that he should be getting a pacquaio fight or 50/50 against a name like shane mosley even though berto hasnt done **** to deserve a even split with shane since shane was the bigger name between the two.

If he was ducking people to fight bums instead then he is clearly a hype job.
If he wanted the big fights but couldn't get the big names to fight him then he is not a hype job.

Do you have proof that he was being protected? He was gonna fight Mosley until that **** happened in Haiti . The collazo fight was close and this ortiz fight was a great war. Maybe you underestimated collazo and ortiz.
Maybe they are good fighters too.

yeah, I enjoyed that overpaid hype-job berta getting his come-uppance

How the hell are you a hype job just because you lost a tough war?
NO, berta is a hype-job because he was claiming to be the next great thing whilst fighting jr WWs and mismatches. That's what makes him a hype-job, not losing to a jr WW moving up.

Give Ortiz some credit for fighting the fight of his life. Ortiz and Berto both got off the canvas and and went to war for twelve rounds.
Ortiz gets credit because he was a major underdog. Berta doesn't get any credit because he was over-hyped. Let's be truthful, the only reason why Berta gave Ortiz the shot was because Berta underestimated Ortiz.

Instead of dissing these fighters we should be praising them because as fans thats what we want to see.
Yeah, fans love to see a hype-job get exposed

lols... postfight excuses...never said berto didn't have heart (although he did hug-n-hit like a biitch after the 6th because he had no answer for ortiz's aggression), BUT BERTO IS A HYPE-JOB!!!!
