I don't have anything against black fighters, I just hate that racist double standard.
And to be fair, Jacky, a guy who rates the Klits....ridiculed Wlad for his performance and didint give much praise to Floyd either...did you not see the posts about Mosley being too old......

Paulie made the network and he's white and has very little power. Yes, the entertaining factor does play a big role as to why he gets many HBO fights but lets be honest I doubt Paulie first time on HBO was because he had a crazy personality. Whites can certainly get on HBO, even feather fisted ones.
As for the other points. Yes, some blacks are coddled but same could be said about Eastern European fighters, who could be considered babied more than blacks. Jacobs had the contract with GB but he was thrown in with Pirog at 22 years old. Yes, you could argue that it was because GB was showcasing Jacobs and Pirog was an afterthought but it doesn't change the fact that Pirog won and is now looked at as one of the best fighters in that division. I wouldn't considered that being coddled. What about Devon Alexander, Adrien Broner, Mike Jones etc etc all these guys are fighting top fighters at a very young age while a lot of Eastern European fighters are either fighting lackluster opponents or staying in the AMs till they are very seasoned and nearing their 30th birthdays.
For the Berto and Dawson point, you're right but they are looked at as an investment. I have no problem with HBO putting stock into young blacks because that is the fighter the American fight fan wants to see(if he accomplishes something of substance the ppv numbers/viewership don't lie throughout the years).
pirog is looked at like that because of his unique style..........devastating offense and excellent defense. there's not that many of them.
and the last statement is nuts because that's dawson and berto are not the type of fighter people want to see, they draw nothing and they've had multiple fights on hbo-
berto still has a chance, because there's huge names in his division.
and lol at using mike jones, he's been around fighting stiffs in philly for YEARS. he needed to step up in a big way, and btw, what big names did he fight already again??????????????
but jones at least has a local following built up by peltz in philly.

There are a number of reasons why Paulie will keep getting fights on big shows, however none of them have to do with some "extreme ******* agenda" conspiracy (LOL!) Paulie is articulate and outspoken, and his press conferences often create a buzz. He does crazy shit with his hair and has an air of charima about him. He's also a good gatekeeper type, because he's a name fighter with zero KO risk against prospects like Khan.
As for Dawson and Berto, the reason they get on HBO despite the fact that they're not big draws is because they're young, talented fighters and the network is hedging its bets on the hope that down the line they'll gain a fanbase and eventually sell tickets and PPV's. It's not some crazy affirmative action thing, like Freedom is suggesting.

people set higher expectations in general from black fighters because of the history of u.s. black fighters. there have been more top p4p fighters than all other races/nationalities combined so people start to expect more from them in general. so when a non-black fighter beats a talented AA fighter they usually get more praise than the AA fighter was getting because talented black fighters is the norm.

They've identified the African American community as a potential area for growth and targeted advertising and promotion there. Simple.
