I'm not sure I can agree with that after seeing the backlash of James Kirkland and Danny Jacobs for example. African Americans are the most hated fighters in boxing and a lot of that has to do with the history that the former legends laid for them. It's like in any sport, the very best teams will be hated but they are also respected.

When a Black boxer gets KOed, he's back on HBO for his next fight: Paul Williams.

If a White boxer gets KOed like that, he's forever ridiculed: Tye Fields.

And in contrast, sometimes when a White boxer scores an exciting KO (Pirog over Jacobs), Greenburg and Davis are very reluctant to have him back on.
I'm not sure if I can agree with this, Tunney. Paul Williams is still regarded as a really good fighter for his win over Margarito and his close fight with Sergio Martinez. Tye Fields on the other hand has no good wins and never was looked at as a real threat in boxing. Also, look at a kid like Danny Jacobs after his kayo, he has yet to return to HBO.

As for the whole Pirog thing, I don't think that has anything to do with skin. It has more to do with Pirog not being an American(of course HBO wants Americans to succeed, that is their audience) and that the middleweight division is rather poor. If Pirog was to fight Martinez, HBO would be jumping for joy.

If Bradley were White or Hispanic, he wouldn't be on HBO.
Shoudn't fighters that lack in power, but still pull out wins be given slightly more props tho?

Theres backlash after every fighter loses. People still trash Khan for the Prescott fight or Ortiz for quitting. Like i said, you only focus on it when it personally affects the fighters you support.

How many times has Paulie M. been on HBO? He's been on a **** load and would be in the same position as Tim is, if he had the same skills. HBO is willing to show all types of fighters from all different regions.

i think a far bigger problem is you whining about race and boxing. there's racial problems, but its not in boxing.

berto made 900k for fighting freddie hernandez. dawson gets millions to fight and cant draw more than 300 people to a fight. i think blacks are treated just fine in boxing. name a white or mexican or rican fighter that draws NOTHING and gets paid like that

im sure danny jacobs will be alright, he's with gb, he'll get plenty of chances

check, you're full of shi t.

as far as pirog goes, it was his style and performance, who else has that mix of style (only top fighters) - very few have d and o like that

Where were the 300 post threads on David Lexmiuex's loss? What about Macklin or any other big name prospect? Khan got a lot of backlash but that is because he was looked at as a future face of the sport. A kid like Danny Jacobs who no one knew of loses and it seemed like the sky was falling. I think it's naive to say American fighters aren't held to unrealistic expectations.

I would say it was poor 10 years ago when it was dominated by blacks as well, not a skin issue. Lets be honest about that list Pirog, Golovkin, Proska(not sure who that is) are all pretty young and unproven. Sturm has never been able to test the US market and in return HBO would really not be interested in showing him because the ratings are not there and Lee is a gatekeeper because he can't even beat a brawler in Vera. That list is not great and you possibly can't expect HBO to make stars out of European fighters, that isn't their job. HBO's job is to make money and that is by making US stars.

Yeah totally, all I hear these days is how Nobuhiro Ishida is ready to take over Manny Pacquiao as the p4p no.1!

Yeah I've notice the bull**** to.

I would like to also add P. Rican fighters and euro fighters to that list. Only group I never see critized is mexicans. Dudes can get knocked the f-ck out or straight up outclassed and it would be ok because they were a warrior. Or some f@gget **** like "they have b@lls".
