Some of the responses are funny. Petersen turned down potentially his 2 biggest career high purses. Hes coming off a loss and a draw. Hes not the mandatory.

But people are condoning this? Funny.

At the end of the day - maybe the rematch clause is a bit unfair - but if Peterson was hungry and wanted to be great - he'd do it. 600K for beating someone who's 'scared' twice as well as getting a world title shot is hardly slavery. Bear in mind Peterson hasn't had any marquee wins yet
Me being a Bradley fan has nothing to do with it,and shivting on Khan's accomplishments prove when I have done so..I said(and I quote)what has Khan done to earn so much respect??Yes he has done some good things, but let's be real he is not unified the tittle,he has not fought more then two puncher and is 1-1 in doing so..I'm talking facts and trying to make Peterson his slave is not kool either..I believe Peterson was hungry enough to take the 300k,but not hungry enough to take it up the azz with that rematch clause with the same money..Only an idiot would have took that deal,it was a slave deal and one that could have really come back to bite Peterson if he had won(which I would have giving him a good shot at doing)..

No hate for Khan I like Khan, just don't like some of his ways..He thinks he(and his fans)is on the level of Floyd Hatton Pac etc etc when he's really not..He also has a lot more to prove imo a fight against a guy full of heart like Peterson would have been a great test for Khan..Looks like Khan and his handlers knew this two and flat out wanted every last thing in their favor come on is that really fair??

No, he's coming off a win and a draw in a fight he recovered from 2 knockdowns to dominate down the stretch. If he had just turned down the 300k for the one fight, it would be a duck. But he turned down making the same purse for the same fight directly afterwards, which is not a bad thing. In fact, most sane people would agree.

"shivting on Khan's accomplishments prove when I have done so"

Read your posts in this thread again. And you also bring up Khans KO loss in virtually every post - yes it was a big setback, but come on. You're taking the Khan hating to *****/******* levels

I'll tell you what Khan did to earn respect. He fought Maidana - who is a style nightmare for Khan. It takes balls to fight a puncher with a 90% KO ratio at 140 pounds after being sparked in 54 seconds by a guy at 135 pounds.

He's not making peterson his slave. OK, i agree the rematch clause is unfair - but like i said if Peterson believes he can win, why say no to 600K And beat Khan 2X, and a world title shot. But Peterson said no (he had a choice), so don't give me the 'slavery' thing.

And tell me who Peterson has beaten? Go on, one good win? His two biggest fights were a draw with Ortiz and a loss to Bradley. Even if he was ortiz/kotelnik/alexander he'd have some bargaining power, but he doesn't.

"more to prove imo a fight against a guy full of heart like Peterson"

COME ON! Peterson does not have more heart than a guy like Maidana. You're definitely just hating on Khan now

A win over who? Yeah....no one. Like his entire resume.

Most sane people wouldnt turn down a chance to make their highest purse x 2 and a world title.

Coming off a loss and a draw (really a loss) and then getting smashed by Khan = the end of his crap career. Thats why he turned it down.

I don't know if you noticed how boxing works these days, but no one takes two fights against the same fighter making the exact same amount of money.

Cool. Good call. Have fun fighting the Victor Cayo's of this world for a 1/6th of that money.

I don't agree with the 'Peterson turned it down because he knew he would lose' stuff.

By the sound of it, the dispute was over how much he would be paid in the rematch if he won.

If you are expecting to lose, you don't turn down a fight because of how much you'll receive after you win.

There's two sides to every story, and it's possible that LP is talking crap. But yet again this week the Khan family/team have been shown up as the ******est 'businessmen' in the sport, yet still his fans are acting as if a 'take the short money to fight me, then take the short money in the rematch if you beat me' if perfectly natural and fair. It isn't.

BoxingScene.com: I understand that you were offered $300,000?

LP: Yes, that was it, you know, it was $300,000. I know that that was going to be the most money that I've ever made and everything, and I probably would have taken the first offer. But then, they started talking about a rematch.

And even on the rematch, I was going to have to take the same thing? That's just crazy.

He Said he probably, probably, probably would have taken he first offer.
You do realise it's negotiated all at the same time right? Obviously you say your figure and follow up with the rest.

It is standard for rematches in contracts with none mandatories.

What does it matter if he is making the most he has ever made. The point is why would he have a rematch if he wins for the same purse. Not only does that not make good business sense its straight up ******. Why the hell you think we didn't get Oscar rematch with Floyd. Oscar wanted the same split even tho Floyd won.

You dudes need to remove kahns d1ck from your mouths. The **** is disgusting.
