This. He turned down that money and a world title shot. Who the **** is Lamont Peterson? Oh yeah, a guy that I've never seen win a fight before.

The guy is the type of fighter that is ruining boxing. He's not a name yet, he's not a great fighter, but he's still going to turn down a world title fight against one of the biggest names around in hopes he can snatch a belt off an easier belt-holder down the line. Then milk it against soft touches on HBO. What happened to wanting to be the man? What happened to young fighters being hungry to prove they're the best.

**** this guy. He gets nothin' from me.

I am glad that peterson stood up. guys like peterson are walked over & messed about while the khans of the world are fully fed.......
Oh I agree. When I said "I dont see what the problem is," that statement was directed to the posters dogging Peterson for not taking the fight.

If ya never seen him win a fight before you should watch more boxing, you do know Peterson's record is 28-1-1-14 KO's right..Oh and you should also go back and watch him give Ortiz a boxing lesson, without those two KD Ortiz loses that fight..I laugh at those who believe Peterson should have became Khan's Bitvh,so if Peterson win's he has to fight Khan again in the UK and take short money again as well why do so many feel that is ok??WTF!!!Has Khan done to earn that much respect??Beat Maidana(his mandatory I might add)and now he is Mr Big shot..Oh please,he is a young Champ(not even unified)and he is acting like such a diva..

Peterson did the right thing F Khan now give Bradley 50/50 and go prove ya self..Beating Maidana was good but he was the only puncher he has really faced, and how limited was he??Look at Maidana last fight with Morales and I believe Khan's win get's put into prospective..Shame on anyone who agrees that Peterson should have became Khan's slave just to fight him..Sometimes some of the posters here show out right bias and it's disgusting..

If you wanted me to sign a contract where I make the same amount for the second fight that I make for the first fight, I wouldn't sign it either. If I win, and I'm the champ, I shouldn't have to make the same amount as the first fight when I was the challenger.

$300,000 and he turns it down?

So what if Peterson 'only' gets 300K in a rematch. He's getting 300k for the first bout - a career high - as well as a world title shot (without being MANDATORY!). And if Peterson thinks he's better than Khan, then why not agree to it? He beats Khan twice, and pockets $600,000 in the space of a few months.

And off course Khan's team will want a rematch clause in there - keep the cash cow going. Not scared - just a smart business move. Another setback after the Prescott defeat would be disastrous to his progress, and a direct rematch would probably be the only thing that could save him.

Bottom line - Peterson doesn't want Khan - it's a terrible style match up for him. As another poster said, he'd rather wait for Khan/Bradley/Maidana/Ortiz to move up, and then pick up the pieces

This post makes no sense, once again another bias Khan fan saying Peterson should become Khan's slave and that is a alright thing to do..Well wake up bro this is 2011 no more ******..It's not a kool deal,so Peterson has to fight in the UK and take short money if he wins??Sounds like a divk in the azz to me,and Khan did not even by Peterson roses..Sorry you are so bias it's not funny..What has Khan to get so much royal treatment??Besides get KO'd in one rd in front of his screaming fans??He acts if that has never happen,he beats a limited puncher(who went life and death with an old man)and now he is some kinda big shot..Khan has not even unified any tittles, but yet demands so much respect and thinks he has done so much..LOL horse Shvt if ya ask me pure and simple horse shivt..Ya did the right thing for not excepting this scumbags deal..

I get it man - you're a Bradley fan and you want him to beat Khan. That's cool - i like Bradley too - his dedication, hunger and commitment has always impressed me. But going on every Khan thread and shitting on his accomplishments (at age 24) is not cool

At the end of the day - maybe the rematch clause is a bit unfair - but if Peterson was hungry and wanted to be great - he'd do it. 600K for beating someone who's 'scared' twice as well as getting a world title shot is hardly slavery. Bear in mind Peterson hasn't had any marquee wins yet
