WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch is not happy with having to face Glen Johnson at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on June 4. Froch wanted to stage his next fight before his loyal fans in Nottingham. The fight with Johnson is part of the semi-finals in the Super Six tournament. Froch's contract with Showtime, who coordinate the Super Six, directs the match to take place in America.

why the **** is this being held in some function suite, surely this fight can draw a bigger crowd than 2.5 k

I hope it reads true that the final is in NYC

He said to Nottingham Post that he should fight in Nottingham? Wow, what a surprise...

Showtime runs the show and pays the purses. Add to that, that the initial agreement among the promotors stipulated that the semi's and final should take place in the US.

Obviously Froch wants to fight in front of his fans in Nottingham but he has no say on this matter.

If the contract states he has to fight in America then he can't really complain.

That's right! He signed the contracts for these fights and thats the deal. He had his chance when the contracts were presented to him to voice his displeasure, he didn't and signed anyway. He has no right to complain now...

no.. according to froch he and kalle sauerland made a verbal agreement to stage the abraham fight in nottingham if froch in return fought kessler in denmark.

sauerland says the kessler fight was decided long before that when the initail contracts were drawn up, saying kessler would travel for his first fight and have his second fight at home regardless of carl froch.

initiailly i was in frochs corner, he seems a very honest guy and u just cant trust promoters. after froch trying to buy the decision against johnson im a bit less inclined to trust him though.

He doesn't sound angry, he is just stating the obvious. This fight shouldn't be held in a crumby bingo hall, but hey, he signed the contract, and there is nothing he can do.

However, he did get shafted in the choice of venue for the Abraham fight. There was a verbal agreement for the fight to be held in Nottingham but Froch was forced to fight in Finland. While Froch signed a contract, and is obliged to honor it, the whole situation stinks when you look at Ward who has been able to fight with home advantage on every occasion. In that light, Froch has the right to feel a little aggrieved.

Hopefully what Froch says is true, and the final takes place in New York. Maybe there Ward won't be able to get away with his usual tricks.
