Roach had said during the training camp that Pac was going back and staying at welter, and that was reiterated immediately after the fight. So where's the joke? You guys act like Manny planned on campaigning at 154 long term and then when Sergio begged for a fight all of a sudden he decided he was too small.

He and his team realized this in training camp and after the fight it was sealed. Sergio is a very good fighter, but maybe he should think about fighting Middleweights since, you know, he is the middleweight champion. Just saying.
Roach already knew Manny was too small for the division and that's why it was held at a catchweight. I would have absolutely nothing to say if he fought there to tests the waters and go back down but he fought for his 8title to build on his legacy? That fight was set up for Manny to get more glory. That was Sergio Martinez's belt. How can Pac fans be screaming that Martinez fight guys his own size when their hero held Martinez's title? This Sergio Martinez ducking fighters movement is weak and shows that Pac fans don't respect any other fighter because at the very end. Pac and Martinez was fighting in 2010 and Martinez beat him out of the FTOY slot because obviously, Sergio Martinez wasn't ducking anybody but the opposite. Pacquiao has said NO to fighting Shane Mosley back in 09. Paul Williams and Sergio Martinez. Matrtinez can't even land a big fight. Who is the one ducking?

There is just so much BS in this thread right now. I think ThePrince already beat me to my response about their plan at 154. Dude was supposed to come in at 148+ for a 150 catchweight and came in 4 pounds short. They were already planning to come back down to welterweight before the Margarito fight even happened. Martinez calling him out one month too late just gave you gremlins a reason to crawl out of the shadows and talk smack.

Btw the Yuri Foreman tall comment was taken out of context but I guess some people like to believe that he was a threat to begin with.

Haha I like how no one replied to the facts you layed out here. Manny and his camp planned on coming in much larger for this fight but couldn't. Therefore they fullfilled there commitment to there contracted fight and agreed to never do it again! Its called being smart at that! Don't get me wrong I think Sergio is a GREAT fighter, one of the best P4P, but he's a middleweight that shouldn't be calling out Pac especially since after the PWill fight he said himself it wouldnt be a fair fight and Pac was just to small. Sergio can and like will destroy everyone in his weight class and should stick to it. So should Manny (though I want to see Manny fight someone other then Mosely as well).

if pac was defending that 154 pound title you'd have a case but he's not, he made it clear from the start he was going to vacate it and go back to 147. I don't know why this is hard for people to understand, it's clear 154 is way too big for pac.

that title was just an added bonus for team pacquiao. They were going to fight margarito regardless and it was the crooked WBC who made it a title fight, so you can't really blame pac there for something the WBC did. They did the same exact thing with Canelo vs Hatton, they were set to fight and the WBC gets their greedy hands on the fight, now people hate on Canelo as a result.

Martinez' own people say pacquiao is too small, so we shouldn't even be discussing Martinez vs Pac (unless pac decides to move to 154). Martinez isn't ducking anyone either and he deserves and probably will get the Margarito-Cotto II winner which is a big fight for him.

Both Pacquiao and Mayweather were PPV stars pulling in 300-400K buys when they were FEATHERWEIGHTS (Welter for Floyd). Obviously fighting DLH put them in a higher stratosphere but both guys were pulling their own weight and were bonafide PPV stars long before that.

When was the last time the MIDDLEWEIGHT Martinez headlined a PPV?

Why hasn't HBO released the ratings for his fight with Dzinziruk yet?

Again, study up and then post. Sergio wants to eat scraps off of stars' plates? He should prove that he's a viable financial option for them and not just some guy no one's ever heard of or cares about outside of internet forums.
Hey man. Lets keep it all the way 100. If it wasn't for Oscar De La Hoya. Mayweather Jr and Pac would not be doing the numbers that they are doing now and that is a FACT. So don't try to act like they didn't need De La Hoya to get to where they are because they did obviously. How can you try to **** on Sergio Martinez like he has to prove he is a viable opponent? Dude is doing it oldschool style beating and KO'n fighters with ease. Back in the day. Fighters would have been lining up to fight Martinez just to prove they are better. Martinez deserves a mega payday and big fight because he proved his worth by becoming the FOTY over a very popular Manny Pacquiao. Give fighters credit where it is due. The only reason why I'm not all into Manny is because Homie ain't showing us what he can do against someone he doesn't have the advantage over. Martinez deserves to get some cash because he has been putting in work and putting up with the bull**** that the sport dished out to him. They robbed him of a Cintron win and stripped him. Sounds like you are making excuses for Pac.

The real problem with your theory is Roach is quoted many times saying "weight doesn't win fights" and he proved that against Margarito (which was a fluke fight) now their being called out on it. They made a f'd up move by going to 154 especially fighting for the same exact title Sergio was just forced to vacate. There is absolutely no excuse but to say "I aint ****ing with that dude".

I already came to the realization that Sergio Martinez is too much for Pac. BUT most of his fans, have this thing to try to disrespect a fighter (Martinez) that just wants to fight the best. Isn't like Sergio Martinez is still calling out Manny. That 154 title was to solidify Pac's claim for winning his 8th title and pad his legacy, while taking the least amount of risk. Case closed.

What do you expect Larry? The guy calls out Pac's opponent a No Hoper but ends up fighting one. I knew that comment is going to bite him in the ass someday

If weight doesn't win fights, then there wouldn't be a need for weight divisions. If you want my honest opinion on the fight, if Manny can make 150 pounds without looking like he ate cheeseburgers for breakfast and hydrate up to 158, I see him beating Sergio by UD. But right now? Sergio KO's him due to his size advantage.

Dude we're talking about a weight division not several and a weight division that Manny just fought in. Stop making excuses for that grown ass professional athlete. I'm sure you would have no problem with PBF taking the fight? Didn't think so.
