Everyone is pretty much saying the same thing.

Nobody beats him, but Mayweather has the best chance.

    A slim one at that.

Martinez & the Punisher, they're just wayyyy too big.The others get schooled.Maybe Cotto at 154 ,because 154 would be dangerous for Sweet Pea as he wasn't that big.But I know he'd fight those guys because he wasn't a pampered spoonfed overhyped champion like these 2 guys I know of.

Present-day versions of the choices? Nada.

        Prime Mayweather could.
Prime Zab might implode after a few competitive rounds.

        Present-day Pac wouldn't get a W against Pea, but I actually
think the old 'unimproved', 'Tasmanian-devil' Pac could cause
        some very serious early-rounds trouble.

Okay one of the most annoying myths, especially of recent times is that Whitaker had some low work rate, couldn't be that much further from the truth, he use to land as much as Floyd throws, people need to stop thinking him and Floyd are one in the same and actually watch his fights instead of highlight vids. I wouldn't favor anyone over him, Floyd would have the best shot but I think he'd come up short probably an 8-4 type decision.

Actually I think Whitaker would embarrass Williams at either 147 or 154. I think I'd pick him over Martinez too, though we didn't see much of Whitaker at 154.

There is where my reasoning lies. That was not Sweet Pea's best weight & those guys are large at that weight.

Okay Martinez isn't that bad of a choice but Pea was able to go up to 154 to beat Vasquez via wide UD, I think he'd make Sergio look pretty bad and would outbox him clearly, though he'd definately have some trouble.

Williams is pretty outrageous, we are talking about the guy who lost to Quintana and there is no way on earth PWill knocks him out.

Cotto is the most laughable, I've never seen him ever being overrated that much, what the **** has Cotto done at 154? Peas win over Vasquez ****s on Cottos resume there, seriously Cotto is not anywhere near the same stratosphere as Pea, its not even worth getting in what would happen.

Well I'm happy to bring U humor. But my opinion stands with me.Sweet Pea was great no doubt, but a 6-3 Punisher & this Martinez are indeed much bigger than a 5-6 Sweet Pea.As good as Sweet Pea was,Martinez has great handspeed & prime time power. The Punisher's reach is comparable with Ali & while he did sluff off against Quintana the 1st time,he murdered him the 2nd time.At 154 that's a tall order for any fighter of any era.I put Cotto in there because he's always done fairly well against pure boxers. But to be clear,I think Cotto has about a 40% chance of winning at 154 & the Punisher & Martinez about 50/50.

                      excellent post.

someone mentioned the mcgirt-pea fight earlier. is that a low workrate?

i too wouldn't favor anyone on that list over pea, off the list- adrien broner
