  • if mayweather had beat cotto, margarito , pacquiao and all these
others and still had a 0 loss record he could brag

but the fact is his '0' is questionable since it was achieved by
retiring instead of fighting these guys

if he beat all these guys and still had a 0 then he would be great

    • I got more respect for Cotto even if he is a lot less talented than Floyd.

      • No one will try and fight like Cotto in the future~

I have already witnessed guys that try and fight like Floyd~

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery~

Maybe someone did, but the people talking about that are mainly the guys giving it to Cotto, funnily enough. With no other substantial argument, besides.

          • Since coming back from retirement, Floyd has hurt and tarnished his reputation, and degraded his resume and achievements.

So Cotto does win. Floyd really is ruining is legacy quickly.

            • floyd would be remembered as a couldve.....................Cotto will be remembered as "he did"..............end thread...............

              • Floyd supposedly did great things early in his career, but the tail end of his career has........well tailed off! Its the tail end that makes or breaks you.

All great boxers have got great early careers, that is afterall what makes them known and great in the first place. Cotto was the best thing since sliced bread almost before he lost to Margarito and Pac.

So Floyd is relying too much on his early career, and lets face it most people dont know about it, so dont care.

Even though Cotto has as many good wins as Floyd, Floyd should beating Zab Judah better. Credit where credit is due. But then Cotto gets credit for beating a prime SSM and softening him up for Floyd.

                • I don't think anybody with sense is arguing that Cotto is better than Floyd what they are saying and what is indisputable is that he has stood up and fought the more challenging opponents while Floyd with one or two (and only one or two) exceptions hasn't. - said exceptions being De La Hoya and arguably years and years ago Corrales (but I don't think that anyone doubts thats prime cotto beats prime Corrales) - same goes for Castillo (and the first fight I wouldn't even count as a win)

Argue with that all you want but Cotto standing up and fighting Pac beats ANY fighter on Floyd's resume end of. Cotto may have lost but he still has Pac on the CV which Floyd doesn't. Some people seem to think that ducking pac and saying if you did fight him you would win is greater than standing up and fighting him and losing. I don't.

So Cotto's only two losses are to a guy who probably cheated (so I dunno if I'd even count it) and to one of the greatest fighters in modern times. If Floyd grew a pair and stood up and also lost to Pac how would his resume compare to Cotto's then? answer = not favourably

Anyway I think other than the pac or martinez fights (which don't look like happening any time soon I think the mayweather fight that most would like to see is Cotto)

                    • I love how you don't mention Hernandez and Manfredy yet you mention Bailey and Quintana on Cotto's side. Might aswell add N'Dou, and Mitchell to that list aswell. <_<

There's a double standard so large in boxing nowadays it's really hard not to laugh.
