I've been reading these arguements, but to bring someone's Wife, Girlfriend, Mother, Sister, etc, etc.. is just plain fuc ked up. His girl has nothing to do with you guy's disagreements.

first of all there is nothing I'm in the dark about, I was attempting to be sensitive about the issue if that's the country you're from and I understand you probably have pride in your country

it's obvious they don't enjoy the same freedoms , but have most guys completely internalized the communist ideals? like they don't have the drive the become successful in an independent way, but they have that collectivist drive to bring success to the state?

do they sit around the gym dreaming about becoming the greatest of all time or just dreaming about bringing glory to cuba?

No one cares for Japanese boxing. In fact Japanese boxers are probably the least respected in that they have champions yet so many people probably couldn't name as much as two fighters from the nation.

            I would say Mexican fighters.

Cuba has produced many amatuer standouts but very few world champions.

if it wasn't a communist country would there be more?no one can say for sure.

Saying that someone's "in the dark" isn't an offensive statement; at least, it wasn't intended to be. I appreciate your empathy. But what you wrote in your previous post, and in this one, indicate that you simply have little understanding of what's really going on in Cuba.

"Internalizing the communist ideals" is a topic for another post. I'm simply pointing out that Cuban people, not just athletes, can't leave their country at will. Very few Cuban boxers have made their way to freedom. Most of the ones that do spent their primes in the amateurs. They come here and are expected by many to dominate the way they did in the ams. It's unrealistic, even if they train like Spartans. The very best need to train like madmen to be stars.
