Yeah, tell me about it. Even with this war with Libia and sky high gas prices nothing would stop one of the biggest stans on here to travel across country to give Cotto a *******.

On the real. I think Martinez does look like an oppurtunist by trying to get in the ring with him and not fighting Pirog and all that. But what makes Cotto non fair game given that he beat somebody as big as Martinez in Mayorga? Oh I forgot. Cotto doesn't fight real champions, only goes after vacant belts. Unless you consider a guy who just lost to Wolak as a champion.

Why would Manny show mercy to Margarito In the last round? Yet manny goes In for the kill and ko's cotto In the 12th round! It doesn't make sense!

Were any of those guys ranked #1 in the division at the time he fought them? Thanks.

There are plenty of guys who decide to fight the lineal champ in a given weight class. If Cotto has done this then enlighten me is all I'm saying. I got no problem with the Margarito rematch and I think that's a fight he should take. But what makes him fair game for Martinez is he just beat somebody who walks around heavier than Martinez. So size shouldn't be an excuse. More like skill disparity being an excuse.

I got no problem with Cotto wanting to fight Pac either, but who in the hell wants to see that crap given that the fight was so one sided and what has Cotto done lately to deserve it? I say even if he beats Margarito in the rematch he shouldn't get a shot at Pac without fighting somebody like Sergio. Call me a hater, but it's just my opinion.

a lot of lucrative divisions are without a lineal champ...thats my point. cotto fought at lww when hatton opted to go up to welterweight, cotto wanted to fight mayweather for the lineal belt but mayweather retired, 154 also doesnt have a lineal champion...rendering it almost impossible to even challenge for the #1 spot. the problem with a martinez fight is martinez would have him move up to a weight class he isnt familiar nor comfortable with. cotto just moved up to 154 and has stated he could still easily make 147. if martinez dropped down to 154, size indeed wouldnt be an excuse

ure right about the pac rematch, but in this article cotto stated he wants to fight both in a span of two years. cotto usually fights 3 times a year with the exception of last year so there is no indication of him jumping to fight pac in the fall or even this year. unifying at 154 would give cotto enough leverage to warrant a rematch with pac, even though he wouldnt win it imo as well

There is no point on a Mosley rematch unlles he beats Pacquiao. I think Cotto next 4 fights will be Margarito in July, Chavez JR if he beats Zibik in December for the WBC Middleweight belt giving Cotto the chance to become the first Puerto Rican to win titles in 4 different divisions, then in june 2012 a unification bout vs either Cintron or Martinez the day before the PR day parade and then on November 2012 a rematch with Pacquiao if he wins the 3 previous fights.

how did tony earn it though? he couldnt see and he could barely move any other way than forward and backwards

cotto was done by the twelfth, yes, but he put up a way better fight in the first half of the fight
Tony earned Pac not attacking in the 12th because he hurt Pac and could hurt him again. I didn't see the Diaz fight. Your logic is weird. Cotto gave Tony a better fight in the first half than in the second half but that don't mean anything. It's how the fight ends that matters-- especially in Tony's case because he gets stronger in the later rounds. Pac's fight vs Cotto ended with Pac overwhelming Cotto. Pac's fight with Tony ended with Pac giving Tony respect because Tony might hurt him again. Did Diaz hurt Pac and did Pac say afterwards that he was lucky to make it out of the fight? Did Diaz make it to the last round with Pac avoiding him to not get caught?
