When you're talking "great american heavyweights" of the modern era, you're really talking black american heavyweights.

I understand a lot of people from other countries get annoyed about it, but the fact of the matter is black Americans don't go into boxing anymore. Things have changed, and any young black person thats thats big, strong, and athletic is positioned from the time they're young to excel in NFL or NBA.

How do I know? I went to a black high school) and historic black college (Langston U, Oklahoma). These places used to be the breeding grounds of black boxers in the last century. They certainly aren't any more. Kids that go to the gym to box are either doing it as a hobby, or putting their focus on boxing after their plans of a career in the NBA or NFL didn't happen. I think this is also why former NBA/NFL guys are trying to become boxers now; they would have been boxers if they weren't pressured to go into other sports.

I'm sorry but people that aren't from America are in no position to argue, because they really don't have the slightest idea.

          it is the truth

you get more money playing baseball, football or basketball than boxing

and you dont have to bust ur ass for years to make that money
you can just get sign out of high school or college and make millions without even proving urself as a pro

most young american athletes rather do that than box

What i like is how none of you yanks can come out ands say "yeah, we just suck right now"

Nope, it's all excuses, you'd get a lot more respect if you had the ability to laugh at yourselves.

instead you have made the troll op look justified in his inflammitory comments

yes more blacks are playing in the nba and the nfl but just because they're good in the NBA or NFL does not mean that they'd be good in boxing just based off their "athleticism" . i think alot of people are forgetting that boxing requires a whole different breed of courage. a very high percentage of guys in the nba and nfl wouldnt have the courage for boxing regardless of how athletic they are.

stepping onto a court or a field is a completely different feeling than stepping into a ring.

Europe and South America don't dominate from LW to LHW because our best athletes are playing football.

They throw out this piss poor NBA argument, and then when another country replicates it in the exact same way, they say they are ******.

I think the americans in this thread need to abort because you are starting to embarrass yourselves.

Yep that's exactly the problem I have with it. I would be cool with that opinion (even though I wouldn't share it) if they weren't so fucking hypocritical about it.

If you break down their argument, they are basically claiming genetic, athletic superiority.

                      which is actually insane
