I think cotto can still, he needs to beat mayorga, win a rematch against margarito. Then one other big win at 154, or a better performance against pac in a rematch. He has accomplished a lot 3-weight world champion, very good resume...no easy feat.

You mean ones that weren't vacant? Lol. Cotto to his credit should get the nod over Judah if it came down to it between those two though. As for the actual answer to the thread. None should make it.

fact of the matter is that Cotto has never once been a real lineal champ in any division hes fought in. not to mention pretty much all of the titles he won were vacant ones, right? and this is the day and age where there are 4 titles minimum per weight class(add in the stinking silver belt and interim and super garbage...blah). I like Cotto, but people overrate the crap out of him sometimes.

McGuigan was a good fighter anyway, he beat LaPorte and Pedroza...but mostly got in because of his popularity. he was flat out famous in Ireland. when he fought the Catholics and Protestants stopped killing each other. I seriously doubt Cotto has that kind of popularity.

It looks good on paper. But is it good enough?

In those 3 weight classes not once has been considered the best in the world here. All 3 are paper titles.

Roger Mayweather fought across 4 divisions and was a title holder in 3 of them. Hell, Roger Mayweather was the Lineal Champion at 130 for a spell. He also took on all comers, tougher fights than Cotto has taken on.

And he is flat out not a HOF'er. Atleast for his boxing career alone anyway.

My point is the title '3 division champ' isn't always enough.

And I don't believe what Cotto has achieved is enough.
