I like Cotto, but people overrate the crap out of him sometimes.

McGuigan was a good fighter anyway, he beat LaPorte and Pedroza...but mostly got in because of his popularity. he was flat out famous in Ireland. when he fought the Catholics and Protestants stopped killing each other. I seriously doubt Cotto has that kind of popularity.
Cotto beat Foreman for the WBA strap, he was undefeated to top that off. so the vacant title excuses are dead, and we ALL know the IBF jerked Cotto out of a title when they stripped Clottey from it right before he was about to unify.

Miguel Cotto is actually not overrated, he's held to a higher standard for some reason, he's beaten 6 undefeated boxers, avenged amateur losses in the pros, only has 2 losses, one to the best fighter in the world who asked for a catchweight and the other to Margarito, who will get his dues in JULY!..thats after fighting the likes of Torres, Quintana, Judah, Mosley, Margarito, Pacquiao, Clottey, an undefeated Malignaggi, Bailey, Corley, etc. all damn solid opponents.

So I don't see why not. 4x Champ in 3 weight classes, only 2 losses in 37 fights, isn't the greatest but there's worse in the HOF, and Cotto I believe is worthy of a mention.

In those 3 weight classes not once has been considered the best in the world here. All 3 are paper titles.

Roger Mayweather fought across 4 divisions and was a title holder in 3 of them. Hell, Roger Mayweather was the Lineal Champion at 130 for a spell. He also took on all comers, tougher fights than Cotto has taken on.

And he is flat out not a HOF'er. Atleast for his boxing career alone anyway.

My point is the title '3 division champ' isn't always enough.

And I don't believe what Cotto has achieved is enough.
Plus he got battered from pillar to post in his career defying fight.

I believe Margarito will, and just perhaps, Cotto.

Cotto might. No chance for the rest of them.

If I had a vote, I wouldn't vote for any of them to get in.

Cotto is borderline though. I don't think he will get in but he might.

And, I don't see any of the other 3 with any kind of a chance of getting in.

I was just using that as an example for the titles in weight classes. Cotto has a better chance of getting into the HOF for his fight career than Roger Mayweather.

Duke Mckenzie being another one. He's a 3 weight world champion. Will he make the HOF? Possibly. But it's not a given and that's the point.

However more or less all the 3 weight world champions in history are or will be HOF'ers.

People tend to put too much stock in 'weight division titles' anyway. Theres like a million belts in each weight class.

Only Fitzsimmons, Canzoneri, Ross and Armstrong have been Unified Champion across 3 weight classes I believe.

                    None of them IMO.

Cotto is the closest and still has time to do work and improve his resume.
