Hamed did more for boxing i.e bringing recognition too the lower weights. Tyson is a bigger celebrity. Both are differant points. I think if tyson's resume was in any other division bar heavy and middle weight its fair too say there is not much between their resumes..
Prince Naseem: hall of fame!

Actuallly you are, we are on about the hall of fame remember. So all you have to do is be really flash and act like a muppet to get in now. So even though he is nowhere near as good as other featherweights at the time you even acknowledge this he should definatly get in. A bit of a flawed arguement don't you think? by your logic Khan should nearly be ready for the HOF by now if he wins a few more fights since his impact is fairly similar. You're mixing up your arguments.
Barrera and Morales will rank higher in the estimations of boxing historians and hardcore fans, surely. We're discussing Hamed's cultural impact, though, and neither of those men transcended boxing like Nazzy did. I'm not saying that to suggest that Hamed should be ranked higher than either, I'm just stating a fact apropos of the subject of 'impact' being raised.
In absolute terms, Hamed's fame was not quite as great as Tyson's. But can you imagine any featherweight in the future being able to get as close?
Europe, Asia and the Middle East are vast territories, and Hamed was a star across them. There's no doubt that he was in his own rarified territory.
And people will make arguments for Tyson being overrated, too, BTW. Another guy who let his game slide in his youth, paid for it with sobering exposure and was never able to fully recoup.
Few go as head-spinningly high as those guys did without some kind of fall.
Hamed is very much remembered, both by the casual public and by fight-fans who miss what he brought to the table (even many who hated him at the time).
I say jealous because you know that Hamed 1) achieved an impact way beyond anything McGuigan ever registered and 2) will be remembered as the Greater of the two. The HOF is just a formality to come.
Your just mad that Barrera exposed that over hyped job Naz for the lack of actual skill he had. Naz knew it too that's why there was no re-match he knew he was done and never returned. True greats come back after their first loss not quit and never come back.Comment

I know you are, but what am I? Times infinity.
Except that's not all Naseem Hamed did. Put his very solid record, and the manner of those triumphs, with the things he did for the sport -- the 'acting like a muppet' bit did great things for boxing -- and you have a highly deserving HOF career.
LMAOOOOOO, McGuigan really is nowhere near as good as Barrera or Morales, in either talent or accomplishments, and you got upset in the first place because some of the board's most learned posters argued against his inclusion in the HOF, guys who aren't even fans of Hamed per se (jrosales13, for instance).
Talent-wise, potential-wise, Naz is easily worthy of mention in the same breath as Barrera or Morales. Can his record stand up to theirs, meaning, is his record an ATG-worthy record? No. It is a HOF-worthy record? Yes. Certainly. And a better one than McGuigan's.
DUHHH, let me ram this through your skull so that you get it. Barrera is an ATG. Morales is close behind him. These guys are considered around the back end or just outside of the 100 Greatest ever to do it in so many lists. I'm not arguing Hamed's case as an ATG, but as a Hall Of Famer.
Naz's overall body of work >>> McGuigan's. Add to that what he did for the sport of boxing, the lower weightclasses, and you have a fighter who is destined to gain entry to Canastota sometime down the line before too long. And he will be remembered as Greater than McGuigan; I'm sorry this hurts you.
Uhhhh, are you even serious? Completely not similar examples in any way, and it's actually painful to watch you embarrass yourself by suggesting as much.
Where did I express anger at Barrera or Hamed's loss to him? I know the factors involved and know that Nazzy had nobody to blame for the loss.
You've expressed genuine resentment of Hamed. Which obviously stems from his career outshining that of your guy McGuigan's. Which amounts to...jealousy.
Naz' unannounced retirement from boxing was the upshot of a glut of conspiring factors and circumstances -- lack of fighting heart on Nazzy's part isn't one of them...but desire to enjoy a normal life with his family superseding desire to continue boxing almost certainly is, among others.
Hamed would take flush punches from fighters and laugh or stalk forward roaring in their face. He did that to an ATG in Barrera. Barrera hits him, hard, and Hamed stalks forward with the countenance of the Lion.
Another gizzoid who mistakes a man's bid to instill some normalcy in his life with a lack of fighting heart in the boxing ring.Comment

Yeah your not mad even though you wrote an essay in response LOL. I didn't compare McGuigan to Barrera or Morlaes you dumbass I compared them to Naz. You clearly are mad about Naz not being in the HOF name me a GREAT fighter Naz beat. Im not even complaining about Naz getting in I have stated on numerous occasions but I'm guessing you can't read well judging from your attempts at humour. I just stated he is over rated which he is and doesn't have the heart like most other HOFs which is true. Most compare fighters to those in their era McGuigan beat the best, Naz lost and folded FACT accept it.I know you are, but what am I? Times infinity.

He never fought again because he'd made too much money, had hand problems and wanted to be with his family. He lost interest in boxing long before the Barrera fight.Comment
