Canelo's Age Should no Longer be an Excuse.

I liked what I saw from him, he's strong, decent speed, moves well, very good combo puncher, has heart and is a very good prospect to be elite one day.
He needs to be less of a macho man and get better defensively but he has time for that.Comment

why can't he be a joe calzaghe-sebastian sylvester type champ feasting on bums and recycled fighters? hbo is backing him so he can do whatever he wants because a lot of ****** fans go to his fights. win the crowd and you will win the money. mission accomplished! proceed with useless mismatch parade.Comment

Most guys turn pro with about 100 amatuer fights 35 pro fights doesn't make up for that no matter how you want to slice itComment

And what I mean by that is: If Saul Alvarez can continue to pack 10,000+ in arenas for fighting scrubs, GBP isn't going to be in a hurry to have him fight tough opposition. They're sitting on a cash cow.Comment

You knew he had pillows damn you.
I thought for sure Hatton was a goner.
And to the topic, though I know it's business as usual for the WBC, I think we should always rail against bs belts, and mismatches esp for titles and on tv. We should always rail on Jose Sulaiman simply because he is Jose Sulaiman.
If all titles and rankings become meaningless, it just cheapens the sport more and more.
I don't get the cheap shots at Moreno. He's wanted to and has fought everyone he can, Sidorenko in Germany to win his belt, he was forced to fight Cermeno in Venezuela, he wants to fight everyone- he is on board for fighting Donaire too.
Without ratings a guy like that gets screwed over and over.
We see it all the time but we should always rail against this.Comment

One i am not giving him a pass i am saying is he doesnt need to fight the elites like cotto mosley margas even angulo or cintron. What he needs todo is fight good fighter not blown up welters but solid guys at 154 but not the elites.
And i am talking about currently what all those fighters are doing it after they have their belts not what they have acomplished or who they have on teir reaume bc that is unfair to compare to canelo who is just begging his career in the limelight. Lets examine lopez is fighting salido and is talking about fight marquez a shot as hell marquez moving up. He is not fighting the best in his division like john like gamboa like hasegau or gonzalez. The same goes for moreno who fights only fringe contenders and not one elite. Same goes for cotto right now fighting foreman and now mayorga. My point is these guys are considered elites yet are not fighting the top of the division yet people are expecting canelo who just won the tittle to fight all these monters when all these elites arent doing it so why should he?
What people are saying is now that he's a title holder he needs to fight contenders. Like all the fighters you named did(except for Berto)
It baffles me that he's a title holder now and people are saying "no no no he shouldn't fight contenders because he's only 20" I'm sorry he's age is not an excuse anymore.
Do I expect Alvarez to fight Floyd, Pac, Martinez, or Cotto next? No I do not. And, I will not hold it against him nor bash him if he doesn't. But, do I expect him to fight other contenders like fellow title holder K9, Rhodes? Vanes? Kirkland, Angulo, Trout, Foreman, Powell? You bet your ass I do. If he's not ready for these type of caliber fighters. Then they should not have gone after the title simple as that.
I don't mind that he went after the title, I'm OK with it. But, now that he's the title holder I expect him to fight these type of opponents. These are the type of opponents that the guys you mentioned(funny none of them were Mexican) fought after winning titles. Except for Berto. And, again if I didn't give Berto a pass I'm not going to give Canelo a pass.Comment
