This guy has probably been watching boxing for two years, and see's some scrub's names on RJJ's resume, and thinks he's got it all figured out. That or he's just a hater. One way or the other, he hasn't made a good case for his argument at all, and is looking like a complete noob.
You are excactly right but it's strange how I get a lot of this from Calzaghe fans. One would think they would try and glorify Roy's accomplishments as to make it seem like his win was greater but it doesn't happen. The reason it doesn't happen is because they know what would have went down had the fight been made in Roy's prime and just can't seem to admit it. Anyways, have a good night.

I watched the complete rise and fall of Roy Jones and I can gaurantee that the man that came into the ring with Tarver in the first fight was not the same that beat Ruiz @ heavyweight. It was obvious. I was shouting at Roy the whole fight wanting to try and understand what had happened and didn't realize it at the time but he just got old between the fights. Maybe it was because he had achieved his ultimate goal or maybe it was the weight loss. That's the only thing that remains a mystery to me. Either way, he was superman at his best and I can't think of anyone below LHW, all time, who I can say definitely beats him in a dream fight. Calzaghe would have been treated almost as bad as Clinton Woods was in my opinion.
Thank you. See people like you and IMDAZED have obviously been following the sport for a while. Most the people around here really have no fricken idea. It seems like they only started watching boxing when Manny Pacquiao became big. And there's nothing wrong with that. Just don't pick arguments about eras of boxing you've only recently read about. As for Roy's fall........well it was inevitable. After coming down from like 195lbs......it was destined to take it's toll on him.

Nah way dude, I'm Canadian. I hate British boxing fans. I'm sorry but I do. Heck, I hate ANYTHING to do with Britain. I won't even try to hide my bias. Maybe it was my ***** ex gf that caused it.

And the British boxing fans certainly don't help. That's why I have the pic of Ricky Hatton in my avi, because it shows what a slob he was to blow up like that in between fights. (Although he was also eventually exposed as a huge coke-head later on down the road, which I thought was fitting. )

The olympics burnt Roy on the idea of fighting overseas and I can't blame him. Either way, however, he beat Hill more emphatically and the fight was DM's to make. He should have came over, accepted short money and gave it his best shot. He would have failed and that's the problem. He made great money in Europe fighting mostly average competition so there was no reason to fix what was not broken and end the gravy train with a Jones blowout.
Yuppers. Roy got ROBBED in Korea. And I have never seen the fight until recently, but God it was the definition of robbery. I'd always heard/read about it, but it really was bad. So you can't blame him for not wanting to fight in Europe after that. American fighters get jobbed there left and right. So to expect him to take even money when he's boxing's top attraction is ridiculous. I just thought it was sad that Dariusz didn't at least go for it. Even if he got sparked out, you'd have to give him credit for trying. He'd already beaten a very good fighter in Virgil Hill. If he beat a prime Roy Jones (and this WAS a prime Roy Jones) he would have been a legend in the sport. But he held out due to money, and stuff like this ruins boxing. It's like what Manny Pacquiao is doing right now. Why risk fighting fighting Floyd for $40million and risk losing, when he can fight five guys for $15 million a pop, and keep making money down the road? It's easy to see what's going on there.

Yup. You should have seen the field day I had on boxrec's forums when Ricky Hatton nearly got killed by Manny Pacquiao. I even started a troll account called "***_the_uk". Why? Because they banned me for calling David Haye a coward when he backed out of the Klitshcko fight in 2009. So yeah, you can see why I wouldn't be too fond of them.

                  Good try.

You don't think a top five HW was a quality opponent for a LHW?
