I think it has to go to montiel bc of his two victory againt hasegawa and againts castillo. Both where great fighters. And also bc of te fact that he became a 3 division champ while vic is stuck at banamweight with out him being able to beat any of the guys there.

In Vic's defense, he was lineal and undisputed champion super-flyweight (only the 2nd ever undisputed champ in the division's history).

His wins over Mijares and Arce are arguably just as good/if not better than Montiel's wins over Hasgawa and Castillo. However Montiel battered Hasegawa in Japan, which deserves a lot of praise.

I'm undecided, that's why I made this poll - to see what BoxingScene thinks.

Should Tomas Rojas count as a notable win?

Also, you forgot to include Z Gorres for Montiel.

I don't see Mijares or Arce ever beating Hasegawa. Maybe, they can beat Castillo. But never Haswegawa.

                  i'll give it to montiel.
both started and won their first title at 112. but the fact that montiel was able to bring his game to 118 and win a title give him the edge. vic tried his luck to win a title at 118 twice but failed.

They probably wouldn't at 118, but I agree with £-4-£ in that Darchinyan's win over Mijares is at least equal to Montiel's over Hasegawa. In fact, when you think about it, the circumstances and predictions going into the fight were similar, thought the way the fights played out were different.
