It was a close fight so the scores were a little stretched but it's not the judges fault or Marquez's fault, it's Jay Nady's fault. The judges have to score it the way the ref calls it. Just about every fighter goes through this at some point, feel they were unfairly robbed or whatever. The thing is every fighter that gets a close call their way say nothing about those fights and only focus on the ones they feel they got jobbed on. Unfortunately, it's a part of boxing. If you don't want to get screwed on the scorecards, then you need to knock everyone out.

GBP should have worked in a rematch for those two...heck, they made MAB give Juarez a rematch because some felt it was a close fight, they should have given him that courtesy...since he WAS the first start signed by GBP
i thought it was a close fight with JMM edging out MAB...i know the point deduction for Marco was costlyComment

Regardless of the knockdown which should have been legitimate, the round should have been a 9-8 round in favor of Marquez anyway. Marquez dominated the round quite easily hurting Barrera. Barrera knocked him down on the last seconds then hit JMM on the ground wich was a fair point deduction.
I've seen and scored the fight many times and I can't see the fight going for Barrera even by being generous. It wasn't as wide as the official judges made it out to be but you can not honestly call it a robbery.
The scores were out, no question about that, but I had Marquez a clear two-round winner. I could not have given that fight to Barrera.Comment

If you reverse the slip and the point deduction for MAB, you have a much closer fight, assuming the judges give Barrera 10 -8 for that round. I think that would have made it a majority draw on the scorecards with 2 judges scoring it even and one in favour of Marquez. I thought Marquez did just enough that night but the scoring definitely wasn't fair to Barrera.
WTF?

when people bring up this fight
people always talk about the uncalled knockdown and act like the point deduction didnt happen plus Marquez dominated the roundComment

Barrera has a very legitimate case for winning the Marquez fight. Although Marquez took over late, Barrera busted him up in most the earlier rounds.
That knockdown round is full of controversy. I dont think the right hand that dropped Marquez was a fluke at all. Although Barrera was rocked early in the round and took a lot of punches, in the last minute he had started settling back in. He had actually landed a very similiar right hand right before landing the knockdown punch. I personally would still have made the round a 10-8 for Barrera, since Barrera those few flush shots Barrera landed did more damage than Marquez did the entire round.
Of course because of the point deduction, it would be 9-8 for Barrera.Comment

[QUOTE=bigcursedawg;9975399]A prime barrera would have beat that glass jawed f@ggot on your sig... gtfo
Who knows what would have happened in when both were in there prime. I think it still would have been a competitive fight and probably could have gone either way. But to say marquez has a glass jaw is ******, the man has gone down a lot of times but he always gets up, even after taking some huge shots. I love both fighters but marquez won fair and square, but i do think that the score cards favored marquez. It was a close fight but despite what people say about the knockdown i think marquez clearly won that fight. The 7th round was crazy barrera was close to being knocked out and then all of a sudden he caught marquez. It should have been a knock down but barrera ****ed himself by being unsportmans like. The fight was close but far from a robbery.
I gotta be honest, I don't think JMM won that fight convincingly at all. But with that being said, Barrera has always been on some bitch shit by not accepting the rematch when JMM offered it to him. People gotta consider that even though it was only a four pound difference, JMM had to move up from 126 to 130 and Barrera had several fights at that weight which probably might be why that fight was more competitive than what it should've been.
Barrera put up some real unimpressive performances before that fight though like the two fights with Rocky Juarez and Robbie Peden, so I really am suprised to this day that fight was so close. But I think JMM would've given Barrera the business in a rematch, and I think Barrera knows that. So he keeps running his mouth like he is now. Barrera lost a lot of my respect after he ducked the second fight with JMM and layed down for a paycheck against Pac. Fuck that puto.Comment
