Naz and roach are overrated. Im not taking anything away from them that they earn but those dudes held like they are the greatest that ever did it.

With that said paul will be paul. He will not learn. He will cont. To be who he is.

what exactly has ****m Richardson done to deserve all the praise he gets?

He trains Mosley and Hopkins. He doesn't need to do anything for Hopkins and Mosley has lost his last two fights due to poor conditioning and an inability to adapt.

      Yet Richardson is a guru?

Paul fights small and that's why he got KO'd into pluto. I
understand that Paul wants to put on a show and give the
crowd what they want but for him to give up his size and take
beatings is ridiculous. I'm sure Williams can come back and be
better but they have to stop with the excuses like "LUCKY PUNCH"
and just take the L, learn from it and get better. I don't know
who should train him but if I had a pick I would say Emmanuel
Steward who already works with tall fighters and could definitely
teach Williams how to use his long jab to keep his opponents
        at the end of it.

A lil defense won't hurt either. Everyone is talking about
****m but I think Paul needs a veteran trainer to school him.
Not saying ****m isn't because he is one of the best but
someone more of a mentor. Nowadays ****m is talking like
a fighter than a trainer. Paul doesn't need that, he needs
discipline and patience. I still think Paul Williams can be a
force to be reckoned with but he has to want to step up and
make some changes no matter how his people feel because
it's his career not theirs. And if they are his real people and
care, then it shouldn't be no problem. Don't want to see what
happened to Cotto happened to Paul. Cotto could have been
so much better but he was too set in the way things were.
Berto needs a new corner as well.
Good post Grus. I have been saying the bold for a while now but I don't think it will happen anytime soon. I think too many fighters change trainers for the wrong reasons and it hurts them more than it helps. Dawson for instance it wasn't Muhammad's fault he lost it was of his own doing. Truthfully I feel Dawson looked his best under Mayweather Sr.

Hmm. Martinez (according many pundits) won the 1st. He sure as hell won the 2nd.

Third fight (and a 3rd win) would confirm he is far and away the better fighter.

You can blame poor conditioning on a trainer but a fighter adapting mid-fight or on the fly can not always be put on the trainer. Mosley has never been one to adapt mid-fight or on the fly. Sometimes a trainer can give the perfect advice in the corner but it is up to the fighter to go out there and execute.

There is no reason that Paul Williams should have went in there for fight #2 with Martinez without a real gameplan. He basically said he went in there to force a fight.... What 6'3 Jr. Middleweight doesn't use his boxing ability to outbox the smaller man? This fight was doomed from the start because Peterson had the wrong gameplan for his man. I totally agree with the article. And if Paul really is a true champion, he will fight Sergio ASAP and also really push for the fight to happen. If Paul doesn't fight Martinez right away, I think it will really be the end of his career...

If he doesn't fight Martinez again, I am no longer a P. Will fan...That's the truth.

I think P-Will needs a new trainer as well. I don't know who though?

I was thinking of Emanuel Steward but I honestly am not sure if that would be a good fit.

Then I thought of Joe Goosen and Virgil Hunter. Maybe one of them will be a better fit. Not really liking the Richardson pick, even though I think he is a hell of a trainer.

All I want if for P-Will to start over. Forget about Martinez and 160. Set up shot at 154, go on a string of fighting 3rd tier fighters like Spinks, Quintana trilogy, and K9 Bundrage, just to get his confidence back and to see if that chin is crack.

what the hell is this article? williams didn't get stopped by quintana, and he didn't have sergio anywhere CLOSE to "down and nearly out" when he knocked him down in the first fight.

the reason this was a lucky punch was because Martinez had thrown that same left hand before and missed or had no effect at all but on the knockout punch Williams came in with his head down, a wide left and no jab behind it and that's why Martinez was able to catch him flush on the chin! its boxing it happens now give us a trilogy so that Williams can finally go back to 147 and face Pacquiao because he does take better punches at welterweight! No offense to Martinez, he is one of my favorite and I'm a fan of him but I'm also a Margarito fan so i know that fight is going to happen after Margarito knocks Cotto out again! lol
