  • Comments Thread For: Paul Williams Should Hire Richardson, Face Martinez

I'm not sure how smart of a fighter Paul Williams is. Even if Richardson were able to teach him to fight tall, as soon as he gets hit a few times he'll revert right back to his old ways.

        You are who you are.

Williams' trainer is an idiot, he admits to focusing on conditioning 90% of the traininig camp instead of technique/strategy. And it shows.

****m would be a good choice for a new trainer but he aint a miracle worker.

Williams needs somebody that is going to teach him how
to use his god given advantages, which is his height and reach.
Paul fights small and that's why he got KO'd into pluto. I
understand that Paul wants to put on a show and give the
crowd what they want but for him to give up his size and take
beatings is ridiculous. I'm sure Williams can come back and be
better but they have to stop with the excuses like "LUCKY PUNCH"
and just take the L, learn from it and get better. I don't know
who should train him but if I had a pick I would say Emmanuel
Steward who already works with tall fighters and could definitely
teach Williams how to use his long jab to keep his opponents
          at the end of it.

A lil defense won't hurt either. Everyone is talking about
****m but I think Paul needs a veteran trainer to school him.
Not saying ****m isn't because he is one of the best but
someone more of a mentor. Nowadays ****m is talking like
a fighter than a trainer. Paul doesn't need that, he needs
discipline and patience. I still think Paul Williams can be a
force to be reckoned with but he has to want to step up and
make some changes no matter how his people feel because
it's his career not theirs. And if they are his real people and
care, then it shouldn't be no problem. Don't want to see what
happened to Cotto happened to Paul. Cotto could have been
so much better but he was too set in the way things were.
Berto needs a new corner as well.

I agree with a change in the training of Williams. I mean hes a beast, Imagine if he had better strategy than to wear down his opponents
