Funny u say so because it's quite obvious that the 2 (so called better pfp fighters)won't come near him!!But before the size excuse rolls in,I'll go ahead & squash it real quick with facts:both Manny & Floyd have won jr middleweight titles,so there's no logical reason that can be given as to why either couldn't face him!!But at least Floyd is on hiatus, while team Pacman won't defend their title against him, instead they chose grandpa Mosley,(no direspect to Mosley of course),if team Pacman offered me 50g's I'd fight him tomorrow!!His punches are sloppy and lazy. He trys to move with slickness he dosent have. He walks forward with his combinations instead of sitting on them or using his legs. He comes in head first and reaches with his punches. Honestly he fights like a really athletic amateur fighter. You can easily tell he started boxing in his twenties. Lacks alot of traditional boxing techniques that will come and bite him in the ass. Still a fan though.Comment

I wouldn't... especially because after the fight, Williams said he'd fight Martinez again, the same way.
After seeing Williams get the nod in the first fight I was hoping he'd abandon his usual tactic and actually consider learning how to box and sit down on a punch or two.Last edited by deejd; 12-29-2010, 01:25 PM.Comment

What makes Sergio Martinez a great fighter and that will let him fight a couple years down the line is his ability to adapt. If you look at his fights he's very talented obviously. What people have already mentioned is that he has great skills. His speed, athleticism was definitely able to prevail vs people such as Pavlik and Williams.
However what also happened in those fights he's able to adapt. In the Williams rematch, he worked on his overhand left that put Williams out. In the first fight, Martinez had a lot of sucess with the right hook, not the left hand. It was a change of pace that won him the rematch.
Also midfight he makes adjustments. Yes he cut Pavlik, but he was able to take away the jab by moving to throw off Pavlik. In the Williams fight he was clearly gassing, but he toughed it out and fought. I thought Williams won their fight just by an edge (115-114), but Martinez definitely showed skill.
This being all said, he has weaknesses. He has the bad tendency of getting smacked with a huge shot and then fighting right back after, but that's a fun style for the fans. I also think a long tall jabber like Pavlik can control his speed, but he adapts in every fight.
He's still the third best fighter in the sport right now.Comment
