I'm not over rating Berto either. I like him and I know he is green. I know he would lose. It's the fact that he is the WBC WW champion just as Mosley was the #1 WW Champion when Pac didn't fight him and Mayweather beat him.

Berto is a better win than Mosley is now. Nobody does anything more for Pac's career at this point than Mayweather and Martinez (and to some JMM III) IMO. Berto would never get to the status (at this point) that it would MEAN anything to Pac's legacy. Not with Mayweather and Martinez in the picture. Berto NOW was perfect for Pac to fight just as Mosley was in 2009 but they opted to "skip" it. Pac had a chance to redeem himself after the Clottey and Margarito scams but again disappoints us, well me yet again.

The way I see it.....Shane vs Manny not only does bigger numbers, but due to Top Rank not having to break bread with another promoter, Top Rank makes more money as well. Then you add to the fact that Arum will have rights on Shane and can make money off Cotto vs Mosley II, Mosley vs Margarito II or even Mosley vs Pavlik.....it makes sense that this fight takes place.

If you see Shane fight his next fight under the Top Rank banner, then you know that allowing Arum to have rights on his next fight was part of the contract he singed to face Pacquiao.

That's a Don King move and while it sucks for fans, from a business perspective it's a very smart move.

Also it give Berto time to build his name up, meaning when they do fight....The fight will make more money as well as more sense.

While you may disagree I feel this is a smart move. Take the money fight now and take the gamble that Berto can continue to win making the fight bigger when they do fight.

Shane vs Manny is as big as it's gonna get, while Berto vs Pacquiao might make some money....it has a potential to be bigger and make more money given Berto takes care of business.

    Just my two cents

he's right about that. Berto hasn't done anything to merit a fight with the Fudge man.

Sorry but fighting mexican cops, 40 pounders and ducking rematches against b level fighters isn't gonna cut it.

Sad part is, they still don't.... That's the point.
Who give a **** if he wins those fight or not. That fact was that he gaves them a good fight and they were good welterweight name. Who the F have Berto fought at welter LOL. The main guys at welter are Clottey, Mosley, Cotto, Margarito, Berto, Mayweather, and Pacquiao. Berto hasn't even fought anyone from that list. Clottey fought 3 of those guys already.

Very true, but being undefeated, title holder, and the best available ranked fighter in your division should cut it.

He's not the best because he fights 40 pounders, mexican cops and ducks rematches with b level fighters.

We'll find out how good he is when he actually steps up and fights a live body.

Yeah because losing all your fights that matter can get you the fight.

Or better yet get you azz handed to in may and fight a horrible draw in sept.

Or getting gktfo a fight before a tune up.

Berto doesnt need more exposure!?! he firstly needs to lose atleast 2 fights and has to a agree to a ridiculous catch weight

Yep , he needs to be caught cheating or coming of really bad loses then they might consider Berto , being WC and undefeated is not the way to get a Pac fight , they want to see you lose before they will take the risk .

He is not the best WW no I would not deny that. When he steps to the likes of Pac and Floyd he gets easily beat by both.

However, he was the best available WW opponent.

Mosley has really 1 win at WW in the last 36 months. And, has looked like crap in 3 of his last 4 fights.

And, that 1 WW win where he looked good YOU personally don't really give him credit for it...

So saying all that I'm interested in seeing your top 5 WW rankings.

aaahhhh I see the light! Pointed out nicely. Although I still think Berto would have been better BUT you make a very valid business sense point that has Arum written all over it. I didn't even think about Mosley's next fight. I'm stuck on him being done but he's already expressed that he's fighting on. So that makes a lot of sense but its still disappointing.

So what happens to that plane if Mayweather "decides" to come back and picks to fight Berto and we all know he schools him. Does Pac fight another Mayweather "left over" fighter? Or does Pac move on to Cotto II at 154 which Arum has hinted?
