Berto Needs More Exposure To Get a Pacquiao Shot

Translation: Berto needs to be exposed by getting beaten badly and looking like a human punching bag first before facing Manny. If he agrees to a catchweight, he'll earn Freddie points and the fight will get signed quicker than expected.

Well I have stated several times that all 3 options for Manny ****** and none of them would be good fights.

Manny stops Marquez and Berto within 7 rounds and do to Shane's chin he atleast makes it the 12th round, although he will be battered.

I'd rather see Berto pick up a solid win so people won't have the excuses once Manny wins. Beating Berto now does nothing for Manny, but atleast he has youth on his side to where you can put it off, allow berto to get a few notches under his belt, and the fight could mean something.

Yes all three are are not good which is another whole entire disappointing rant I have, but I just don't understand how anyone can degrade Berto OVER Mosley in 2011. I'm not over rating Berto either. I like him and I know he is green. I know he would lose. It's the fact that he is the WBC WW champion just as Mosley was the #1 WW Champion when Pac didn't fight him and Mayweather beat him.

Berto is a better win than Mosley is now. Nobody does anything more for Pac's career at this point than Mayweather and Martinez (and to some JMM III) IMO. Berto would never get to the status (at this point) that it would MEAN anything to Pac's legacy. Not with Mayweather and Martinez in the picture. Berto NOW was perfect for Pac to fight just as Mosley was in 2009 but they opted to "skip" it. Pac had a chance to redeem himself after the Clottey and Margarito scams but again disappoints us, well me yet again.

First of all the biggest beef in boxing is Haymon and Arum. It's even worse than GBP and the reason I believe Floyd was fvkking with and more than likely will sign with King to make the Pacquiao fight.

I see the GBP vs Top Rank beef dying down in 2011 but the issue with Arum and Haymon is both have egos through the roof. Haymon is a control freak and we know how Arum is when it comes to being dictated to.

With that said, Berto wasnt a real option for May 7th but not for reasons you might think.

I'm looking at things from a common sense perspective, and common sense tells me the following:

1. Haymon is not gonna give Arum the luxury of letting Manny destroy one of his cash cows in Berto atleast not yet.

2. OST would be a deal breaker as it would force Haymon to make a tough decision. Should he force that issue knowing damn well it will kill the fight, or does he drop it making his relationship with Floyd worse than what it might be at this point. Not saying there is beef there but it's something going on that is making Floyd deal with King.

Now I know most will say that Dibella sent a contract over but I believe neither side was serious about this fight at the moment. That contract, IMO, was about as worthless as the paper it was written on. Don't believe me, notice how Berto had no fire or euthusiasm when Manny was brought up as a potential opponent. Now he does but that's because everyone and their mom knows Shane vs Manny has been a done deal for weeks now.

I do see this fight happening though as I'm pretty sure Floyd will sign with King, leaving Haymon with Manny vs Berto as the only fight he can make bank on. Also I think they know Berto isn't ready and wants to get a few more notches under his belt before throwing him in there with Manny.

I say this because Berto has been brought along slow and the quickest way to ruin a fighter is to make him jump from mediocre to elite comp especially if that comp is a dangerous puncher like Manny.

Now these are just my opinions on the matter but from th very beginning I have never considered Berto vs Pacquiao a legit fight for May 7th. It's the type of fight that will happen eventually as Berto will be the only WW left after Manny faces Shane then Floyd.

I think there could be some truth to that. But nobody knew for sure Pac-Mosley was a done deal until a few days ago. But in that interview with Kellerman he did sound kind of shook and not confident in facing Pacquiao.

And how you know PAC stops berto in 7? PAC dont have 1 punch ko power. **** all his last opponents went 12(the Cotto stoppage was a little muh. They could have let him finish the fight) when the last time PAC faced someone closer to his speed. **** even Marg was tagging him.
