Granted there are more title holders nowadays with all of the ABC belts, however... the modern heavyweight would still kill heavyweights from 50+ years ago. -
Ya, John Ruiz would KO Joe Louis senseless..Originally posted by Dirt E GomezGranted there are more title holders nowadays with all of the ABC belts, however... the modern heavyweight would still kill heavyweights from 50+ years ago.

My bad, I should've said 65+ years ago... even though you're discussing a feat that was done like 90+ years ago by Bobby.Originally posted by ThaGreatest_NKYa, John Ruiz would KO Joe Louis senseless..

Do you think LL would have killed Max Baer?Originally posted by Dirt E GomezGranted there are more title holders nowadays with all of the ABC belts, however... the modern heavyweight would still kill heavyweights from 50+ years ago.
Joe Louis?
It doesn't matter which Lewis we're talking about, the
wilder young one or the older cautious one lolComment

I know what you mean...but that was a whole different era and they didnt have all the boxing tech we got today you know...Originally posted by Dirt E GomezMy bad, I should've said 65+ years ago... even though you're discussing a feat that was done like 90+ years ago by Bobby.
My main point is, about Billy Conn, who almost beat Joe Louis, something Roy never would've done..

Despite the fact that I don't really like LL he could. He weighed in around 240-260 for most of his fights. Louis would simply be too light and too short for him despite the fact that he's much more talented. Same thing for many of the past heavyweights from yesteryear.Originally posted by hollisterDo you think LL would have killed Max Baer?

Billy Conn, while what he did was big, probably wouldn't have beaten RJJ, or even come close to it. He was ahead on 2 of the scorecards before he was knocked out with 2 rounds left prior to his loss. The fight wasn't decided... it wasn't like was was robbed. While I like Conn and what he did is impressive, RJJ will still be remembered as the better fighter.Originally posted by ThaGreatest_NKI know what you mean...but that was a whole different era and they didnt have all the boxing tech we got today you know...

well dam its not his fault theres 4 champions......Originally posted by ThaGreatest_NKBob Fitsimmonz was the first fighter to go from middleweight champion to heavyweight champion in history...
Then Billy Conn fought Joe Louis at 169...and almost managed to beat the greatest HW of all time...
RJJ moved up in weight...instead of being forced to fight ONE champion, he got to choose between 4 of them....
He chose the biggest bum...
If there was always 4 champions in each weight class this record would've been broken over 70 years ago.
and obviously he chose the biggest bum, he gets a huge payday, and gets himself in the record books. DK doesn't give a **** bout ruiz, he wanted byrd to be good, he wouldn't put byrd with jones, too much of a riskComment
