Boxing has evolved over the era dude, get with the times. For the better or worse, how it is today is simply how it is. Back in the old old days boxing wasn't a full time profession 24/7, just like football players and whatnot. They used to go out drinking and smoking and just do what they wanted for the most part. They'd fight once a month or more so against very mediocre boxers/fighters by our current standards. Bobby would've gotten killed by Lewis, just as RJJ would've.
I guess you can say that...
but he did fight the best out there, u know...
just sayin that Billy Conn would've broke RJJs record if it was like today u know
Bob Fitsimmonz was the first fighter to go from middleweight champion to heavyweight champion in history...
Then Billy Conn fought Joe Louis at 169...and almost managed to beat the greatest HW of all time...
RJJ moved up in weight...instead of being forced to fight ONE champion, he got to choose between 4 of them....
He chose the biggest bum...
If there was always 4 champions in each weight class this record would've been broken over 70 years ago.
Oh yeah bull**** , Ruiz beat alot quality fighters and PEOPLE WERE SAYING JONES WAS GOING TO LOSE!!!And Roy won, typical bull**** of taking away an accomplishment of a fighter after they accomplish it. Whoa I am losing my cool...I got to chill. Sorry Greatest were still cool but you piss me off when you talk about Roy Jones.
If everyone else got a chance of who they fight for the title, then Billy Conn would have been the world heavyweight champion...
Who was the real heavyweight champion Roy or Lewis? Lennox Lewis..
He wanted the safest heavyweight he could find that he knows can't beat him...
He had been wanting to go heavyweight since 1997, BUT he was waiting for a SAFE HW champion to fight in John "The Bum" Ruiz..
Truth, my best friend on boxingscene, we won't take the RJJ convos personally lol, but I used to like Roy Jones, I have his whole career on dvd...
so I am not biased..

Roy Jones Jr is the greatest fighter of this generation and there really isn't anything that can be done to change that. Might as well accept it and move on with your life and spare us from the mindless propaganda.

Fact: John Ruiz was a title holder of a Heavyweight Belt
Fact: Roy Jones Junior beat him
Fact: Roy Jones Junior held a heavyweight
and Carlos Maussa is a champion...
but today being a champ doesn't mean much like it used to.
In the old days, Maussa, Gatti, Ruiz would have never held a title even in their wildest dreams..
