though that first loss will gives you the motivation to train like you were just starting out again, it can also make you miss the big picture in the ring

Every fighter that Pac has beaten in the last couple of years has been coming off a win, except for Clottey who lost a split decision. As for beaten up opponents, Pac himself has gone through a lot of tough fights in his career. As for people hating Floyd, how impressive was Mosley in his fight with Margarito before getting beat up by Floyd? You can say Mosley lost b/c he was old, but it's not about style or tune ups or PEDs or whatever.

Just the fact that you are oblivious to the pattern of Manny's "personally selected opponents" is enough to make me give up....nonetheless,I will mention-that his last several opponents were slipping-and badly.When it was perceived that they may not have slipped enough-then Pac fought em at catchweights and made em shed a few more pounds.The pattern is definitely there,why justify it?

Remember,Manny and Roach didn't want Shane Mosely until AFTER he has appeared to slip tremendously-he lost to Floyd (stamina played a big issue) and he drew with Mora,who I personally thought outboxed Shane (and yet again after the 3rd-4th round Shane was winded and gassing out with his mouth wide open sucking in the air).Do you like fair fights or what????

I personally believe and had Dirrell WINNING the Froch fight and the similarity between both Dirrell and Froch's losses were that they both felt they won their losses (they both felt they got robbed by being in the opponents hometown)....not to mention that they didn't get ko'd! VERY big difference in losses that we are talking about-don't be so oblivious.

Your "prime" can certainly be ended by one devastating loss.Fighters become more hesitant when they would initially go all out,because they are worried about getting hit again or second guessing themselves.Punch resistance can ultimately drop after a major ko as well and a fighter can be more inclined to get sparked by punches that never used to phase them....

That there is some baggage with him inside his mind because of that loss? Shouldn't he be motivated to win and have that never say die spirit and prove to the world that he can go against all odds to defeat the ghost of his Christmas past? Shouldn't that be the attitude of fighters?
Remember pac came from 3 losses and where is he now? He lost to em, beat hector velasquez via tko and ko'ed em on a rematch after that!

I think it's a bunch of bunk as well. Look at Martinez, dude has one really legit loss in his career against Margs but he has had a wonderful career after that. Even after the Williams shenanigans in the first fight, he comes back to destroy the perceived elite fighter in 2 rds.

Tomasz Adamek lost to Dawson but has had moved up and weight twice and still racking up wins.

My boy Robert Guerrero has nothing but titles and wins since his sole loss to that Diaz guy in 2005.

A single loss means jack in my book. Now 4 losses in a row is another thing.

I differentiate between a loss and a beating.

For example, both Morales losing to Raheem and Zab losing to Baldomir were OK losses to me for them to face Pac and Floyd respectively.

However, Cotto's loss to Margarito, and a subsequent bad outing with Clottey told us he wasn't all there any more. similarly, Floyd completely dominated Shane and then Shane had a bad outing after that. Clear signals that those fighters weren't ready for elite -level comp.

In margarito's case, he had a punishing, crushing defeat to Mosley., and then looked bad in his next outing. Pattern repeated.

Then Cotto punished then KO'd Yuri after he got beaten down by Manny...

Yuri's leg punished Yuri....there are 12 rounds to a fight-if his knee wouldn't have gave out we would have seen the whole fight.It is likely that Cotto would have faded as he has in most of his fights.....lots of ifs and not anything to really guage where Cotto is at from that fight.I just know that Cotto looks more plodding and flat to me than he did before the Tony beatdown.

Ill tell you why fighters go off radar after a loss,I was actually talking bout this with my friends and grandpa the other day.

They don't fight enough,we wait 8 months for a fight just to see a guy lose and then 6 months off radar then 4 months more of "oh I'm back in the gym but no opponent yet" then another 2 months of him getting one,it's all to much..but I to believe loses don't mean ****.
