Khan defintiely won fair and square. My only criticism is Khan needs to learn to be "defensive" by utilizing the JAB to keep Maidana off at bay. Then he needs to learn how to clinch better.

Aside from that, I don't see how Maidana would ever win against Khan if Khan would do the right things. Quick flush combinations and of course the LEFT HOOK to the ribs was awesome.

Cortez did the right thing in my humble opinion.

It's over with and let's move on.

i noticed when mosley fought margarito he would clench margarito nice n dirty n then pound em with some mean hooks throughout the entire fight, every round until the knockout, that ref rarely interfered. when shane fought floyd, as soon as shane would touch floyd the ref was there, fast, breaking them up, saving floyds ass, probably changed the outcome of the fight. i know its the refs ring and every ref wants things done his way, but in my opinion , cortez saved kahns ass that night.

if you look at the fight closely, MM got a a couple of shots at Khan at the break.
without the ref cautioning it. also i have seen a lot of hooks with a follow thru elbow.... i think it was with bad intent. as for Khan, he clinched to much. the best defense he can offer is not to cover up but to keep throwing punches. he is wide open for the uppercut. he is also a bit winded in the later rounds. this is were conditioning comes in. he needs to develop his leg muscles as he is agile yes, but very unstable and wobbly in his movements. overall, i like his rapid combinations, especially the liver shot that sent MM down.

I just don't like Cortez, he is consistant, it's always just consistantly bad (IMO).
True. Id like to see a ref at least tell them to fight their way out of a clinch, or give them a few seconds to do so.

Cortez seems to be too focused on potential fouling.

if this fight was in oakland with one of ward's refs, khan = dead man.

Maidana definately has the right to complain. Cortez was protecting Kahn and the point takeaway was bull****.

yeah what ever happened to punch and get out. JC is infatuated with his "i'm fair but i'm firm" bullshit, tries his best to be the 3rd star in the ring. dude is too old, senile, and selective now. he needs a pair of goddamn bifocals. i recall roach pushing for JC for the pacquiao-hatton fight, he's chosen for a reason, folks. when your house fighter has no inside game or the opponent is a strong inside fighter, call Cortez's number.
