I was rooting for Maidana but this is one of the most ****** posts I've seen.
1. Maidana didn't have to hit Khan with an elbow to have a point deducted. The point is, he TRIED to hit Khan with an elbow, and Cortez deducted a point.
You have Maidana winning rounds 3,6,7,9,10,11,12...how the hell?! And then you go on to state those are six rounds....you just counted seven.
There is no way Maidana won more than 5 rounds (in the most optimistic scenario). Even if he won six rounds, Khan edged it. No matter how you slice it, he won. No draw...he won.

You sound like a baby
He doesnt have to touch gloves in the beginning of any round other than the 12th which he did. He elbowed cortez by accident imo and got a point taken away. Iv never seen a point taken for hitting the ref accidently, arent you supposed to hit your opponent with an elbow to be deducted a point?
Amir held like Maidana was his lover, and bent his head down many occasion. Its not maidanas fault that he didnt have a target and hit anything he could. I had Maidana winning rounds 3,6,7,9,10,11,12. Thats 6 rounds plus both had 10-8 rounds. The bs point deduction made the diff in the fight on my scorecard, otherwise i would have it a draw, which would be very understandable. Khan showed guts tho and the heart of a champ, he has crazy skills but lacks a chin. I dont blame khan but cortez for stinking a foty candidate

of course that showed a lot of heart but what i was trying to say is that maidana didnt do anything to khan or couldnt do anything to khan until late in the rounds towards the end. U cant win fight by doing this, u might get lucky here and there if your fighting against b-level guys but trust me if your ever up against a top contender then u wont be able to do that and get a win. How about khan? Khan taking that beating towards the end doesnt show anything? LOL??
I thought it was accumulated damage from about the 4th rd on Maidanas part that gave him the edge in the last three rounds. Khan ate a lot of rights and uppercuts.
Not taking anything away from either guy, but Cortez is a horrible ref. Count how many times Cortez stepped between the fighters in round ten after Khan was hurt. UnnecessaryComment

A ref may suggest they touch but it's never mandatory, that's funny. Cortez is a joke, no question he has the history. I had Khan 113-112, he hung on, the point deduction was the difference on my card. Maidana took rounds off, hoping to have enough to finish khan, Cortez didn't help ,but damn Marcos you didn't finish. Khan could have had an easy night, but unbelievably he stopped going to the body. The spin doctors can talk how Amir's chin stood up, but that was a brutal performance that made for a great fight.Comment

Cortez did a great job. Maidana is making excuses. Hes the dirtiest fighter I've seen since Tyson. Who throws a elbow at the referee? Maidana does.Comment

The referee's role is not always a popular one; bottom line is that He's there to keep the fight clean. Maidana elbowed him while trying to elbow Khan and that's a big NO NO with any ref. He earned Cortez's bad attention fighting dirty and He is the one to blaim for his loss. Bottom line is that He couldn't finish Khan when HE had him and lost the mayority of the rounds.I don't get it. I mean I was all for Maidana during that fight, and no one was fighting dirtier than he was. First he wouldn't touch gloves with Amir in the beginning of the rounds, he almost elbowed Cortez, he hit Amir behind the head on dozens of occassions, and Cortez didn't see the low blow in the 11th or 12th round. Winning the last 3 rounds of a fight doesn't earn you a W at the end of the night.
Not only did Maidana do those things, his corner told him not to touch gloves and swing which he did, bad sportsmanship. They also spilled water in the ring close to the first bell so Khan would trip whilst moving around, which Cortez busted them on and cleared it up with they're own towel.
All combined, Maidana and his corner were by far the ones fouling and such more, and yet still cry they're opponent was worse and blame the ref.
I don't mind Maidana but that's altogether pretty poor form actually.Comment

1. Amir Con deserves to be hit in the back of the head.
2. Amir Con/Joe Cortez deserved to be elbowed.Comment

People need to look at the times when cotez seperated them in the 10th.
First was 5 seconds after the huge shot where Maidanas Head was under Khans armpit---Justified
Second was a min later when Khan got turned around with his back to miadana and Maidana clocked him in the back of the head---Justified
Next was about 5 seconds later when Maidana pushed Khans head down below his crotch---Justified
Another is 20 secs later when Maidana almost went out of the ring---Justified
1:37 Maidana had left hand free, Cortez breaks them up -- debatable
0:25 Maidana left hand free pounding away, Cortez breaks them up -- UNJUSTIFIED
Round 12:
2:36 Cortez breaks them up -- justified
2:12 Maidana has one hand free (first the right, then the left), pounding away, Cortez breaks them up -- UNJUSTIFIED
2:00 Maidana has one hand free, Cortez breaks them up, debatable since Khan dipped his head low, exposing the back of his head -- debatable
1:50 Maidana one hand free, pounding away, Cortez breaks them up -- UNJUSTIFIED
1:19 Khan holding Maidana's head down, Cortez breaks them up -- justified
0:12 Cortez breaks them up, no hands free -- justified
So I guess that's three times where Maidana was prevented from pounding away on an already wobbled Khan.
If Cortez follows the rules just one of those times, maybe the fight ends like this:
