I remember Cortez once poked Hector Camacho in the eye when he was fighting Trinidad and disregarded it completly

Watching the fight again it was as if cortez had been told to make sure the fight was kept at distance as much as was possible obviously inside fighting favoured Maidana and cortez was having none of that = and when he kept shouting FIGHT CLEAN that was bound to effect maidanas performance and still he was all over khan in the later rounds - dont get me wrong khan has my RESPECT he is better now ..... it makes you wander if cortez was PAID OFF !!!

The referee's role is not always a popular one; bottom line is that He's there to keep the fight clean. Maidana elbowed him while trying to elbow Khan and that's a big NO NO with any ref. He earned Cortez's bad attention fighting dirty and He is the one to blaim for his loss. Bottom line is that He couldn't finish Khan when HE had him and lost the mayority of the rounds. HE can blaim the judges too, but the bottom line is that the referee did his job and He didn't. Maidana needs to work on his boxing skills, because today it takes more than strengh and power to be on top of his div.

Cortez is a rubbish ref, but Khan deserves the credit for winning the fight
The fight was more than just the 10th round.
exactly!! all these people crying about it! maidana didnt show up until the later rounds which is to late. How do u expect to win fight by coming strong towards the end hoping to get lucky and score a KO? U wont be able to do this if your fighting against top contender, and maidana's punches was all over the place, hitting khan behind the head, im not suprise why nike cortez stepped in to break it up..

Great post not to mention Maidana already has a reputation for being a dirty fighter.

Yes you should move on maidana. Khan could have finished youin the second round if he hit your body more. But he wanted to taste your punches first to prove his doubters he had a chin.
But then the moment passed and you got a second wind.

I don't understand why Cortez keeps getting fights. He is probably the worst Ref out there. GTFO with that firm and fair ****.
