I don't get it. I mean I was all for Maidana during that fight, and no one was fighting dirtier than he was. First he wouldn't touch gloves with Amir in the beginning of the rounds, he almost elbowed Cortez, he hit Amir behind the head on dozens of occassions, and Cortez didn't see the low blow in the 11th or 12th round. Winning the last 3 rounds of a fight doesn't earn you a W at the end of the night.

of course that showed a lot of heart but what i was trying to say is that maidana didnt do anything to khan or couldnt do anything to khan until late in the rounds towards the end. U cant win fight by doing this, u might get lucky here and there if your fighting against b-level guys but trust me if your ever up against a top contender then u wont be able to do that and get a win. How about khan? Khan taking that beating towards the end doesnt show anything? LOL??Comment

sick of hearing this gob****e now....he was clearly upset to have lost the fight but its a professional boxing contest not a street fight. if the bell hadnt come in at round 1 maidana would have been done inside 4 minutes lets not forget that. cortez refs a particular way...it suits people when it suits them ....no floyd fans complained when it suited him v hatton. just because it doesnt suit u, u cant go round calling the guy corrupt.
maidana threw some dirty punches and an elbow. if he had concentrate on trying to fight and win fair instead of complaining then he might have done better. if it gets frustrated at being outboxed by someone then he should quite the gloves game and try bare knuckle where he can do what he likesComment

Cortez is one of the best refs in the game, he did an excellent job and wouldn't have had to step in if Maidana wouldn't have tried dirty tactics.
Too little too late for Maidana IMO.Comment

The ref should also warn fighters for too much holding. This is not a wrestling match, I could understand why Maidana was so upset.Comment

Cortez did a poor job at refereeing the fight. I am not taking anything away from either fighter. You can't blame a guy for hitting you behind the head if he is punching and you are putting your head down.
How many times did Cortez warn Kahn about holding and pulling Maidana's head down? How many points were deducted from Khan after those repeated warnings?
How many times did Cortez warn Maidana about elbows? How many points did he deduct for elbowing?
Answer those questions for me.
Maidana did not just "come on" in the final rounds. He started coming on since the fourth round.
Respect to both guys but let's be honest about the situation.Comment
