i never seen cortez as a bad ref tbh, it seems to me that he just follows the rules really well, while other refs may allow punching with one arm while the other is clinched, crtez doesn't for the simple fact that clinching, is illegal

i know there are plenty of people pissed off at his officiating, but i bet the only reason he's still used in high profile matches is and not gone back to obscurity is because he throws the rulebook at you

Maidana wasn't tired because he didn't get any sleep
He was tired because he was throwing big shots against an opponent that hurt him to the body and showed lots of movement.

as I said. it whiffed the back of the head as Khan turned around. Maidana was aiming for the side of the face when he threw up but the head was turning and the punch whiffed.


The follow up hook is perfectly legal and Amir was dazed enough to take another one.


The point is..... Khan turned his back on his opponent. not protecting himself. Either 8 count. Or let Maidana finish his work.

he couldn't pull it off cuz it was in the 10th, he was damn tired, if he had dazed khan like that in the 3d, khan would have been knocked out, believe that

He wouldn't have landed that punch in the 3rd and it wouldn't have had that kind of effect on Khan either. Khan was just as tired as Maidana in the 10th and Maidana failed to stop him.
