cortez is unfair and mentally infirm. i wanted khan to win this fight but any time i watch cortez ref i can't stand the guy. apart from the fact he seems senile, he's way to into his own image, that catchphrase really pisses me off. we don't care about the ref, we want to see the fighters. mills lane had his own catchphrase but he was good, not always getting involved for no reason like cortez.

Cortez WAS a good referee, but it's been long since he passed his prime. Now he's just way too involved in the fight and can change the possible outcome because of that

Shiiit article, IMO. Cortez had nothing to do with the result of this fight any more than he did in the Hatton fight. It was Khans heart that won him this fight. End of story.

When has Cortez been any different?

I'd like the writer of this article to tell me that wasn't a valid interference.

at this point i have 2 say it's the fighters camps fault for agreeing to cortez. we all know he sucks so why not protest to get a better ref both sides can agree on? it keeps him out of the big fights so this **** can end.

Damn the excuses people are using to diminish Khan's victory are unbelievable. The only thing Cortez did wrong in the fight was take a point off Maidana for using his elbow. Other than that, he was doing Maidana a favour by breaking the fighters up every time Khan went to hold in the 10th.

                  Maidana failed...get over it.

everytime? what the fk? he stopped maidana from hitting him back of the head, cortez did nothing after that, maidana was landing and khan was getting out of the way, then khan was safe and it was back to normal

maidana would have not knocked khan out unless he was allowed to fire bombs at the back of khans head

                    watch the fight
