Check his fight night weight since his Morales 3 fight. He was always at 144-148 range. Same as today. That means he was draining himself before to make the Superfeatherweight/Lightweight limit. He doesn't have to do that now.

It's a combination of genetics, work ethics and fighting at his proper weight division.

If his PED's were so effective, don't you think his brother Bobby would have taken the same **** as well and be at least half as successful??Lol

Cotto's chin got better as he went up in weight and he has retained his power if not more power now at 154lbs....

Stop with the agenda against Pac.

As you can see when he was at 130 he was putting on about 15lbs of water weight over night.

To answer your question, dehydrating yourself to that extent can in fact inhibit all of your abilities.

You can pass out doing nothing by being dehydrated, let alone fight championship fights.

His speed, power, and most importantly punch resistance could all have been effected by dehydrating to make weight.

Now that he seems to not have to dehydrate whatsoever by hanging around the mid 140's, his body feels better on fight night, so the speed and power is there and he seemingly takes a punch better.

            Thats my take.

Even punching margarito IN THE FACE hurt Pac.

Definitely Pac is bothered by the bigger punchers.

As for the speed, he only APPEARS faster only because he's fighting bigger, slower men who aren't accustomed to fighting smaller, faster fighters.

He didn't get faster, his opponents got slower.

Experience, dedication to the sport and honest hard work tend to make a good fighter great. Not just steroids.
Where did you get your 'after the margarito fight' info? Cause I remember hearing that Pac was singing at a party in Reno the very next day!! He might have gone to the hospital, but not for any medical attention, he went just to make sure he hadn't put margarito in a coma. PACQUIAO is the MAN!!!

Let's not forget Manny was fighting legends in his twenties. The same dude that retired Prince Naseem. HE was still learning his craft AND it makes sense that as you add more muscle and technique then you gain more power. His speed has always been exceptional.

It's possible that it's just his body maturing, but it would have to be truly remarkable genetics to not only account for his firepower but also his suddenly amped ability to take punches from bigger fighters.

Manny in his 30's as a welterweight is faster than he was in his 20's as a lightweight. Normally, as you get older and gain weight, you get slower. Floyd in his 30's as a welterweight is slower than he was in his 20's as a lightweight. This makes sense. Mannys situation does not make sense.

Manny will be 32 years old this month, he fought Morales in 2005 which would have made him 27 years old. He appears to be a faster and more powerful fighter since he has become older and moved up in weight. Did Manny just hit his prime late and develop into a great fighter?
He was never rocked when he was campaigning at the lower weights Manny always has an iron chin, he's two previous ko losses at the flyweight level where due to his inexperienced attitude of rushing into punches at first, and being weight drained at the second... When he went up to featherweight, still because of his under developed defensive skills he often got caught with well placed punches from the great Mexicans of Barrera, Morales and Marquez but still nobody has dropped him or knock him down, most of the times because of Manny's unbalanced stance and body movement whenever he got caught with those punches it appears as if he was rocked but in reality he was just caught unbalanced... Now as a WW, Manny has a better defense now, yes he is still getting caught with flush punches but Manny is heftier now giving him great balance even when he is bouncing around, he is rarely getting caught in awkward position... And your arguement of Manny being faster and more powerful now.. I don't agree with that, he was much faster at the lightweight down, he slowed down when he went up in weight it's just that compared to the bigger guys he is tremendously faster... He was much powerful at the lightweight down often KO'ing opponents in the 1st round with 1 left straight, now at the WW-up it is fortunate that he developed his right hand as power punch also, often using combinations to beat up on his opponents with two hands both with enough pop to make terrible damage... You should review Manny's very early fights upto his last fight with Margarito before you make your accessments, Manny's rise is due to hard work, there's no other explanations!!!
