These are all just not true, though. He was clearly slower against Margarito than he was against Cotto and clearly slower against Cotto than he was against Marquez. And you'd have to be a fool not to notice him clearly hurt several times against Cotto, Clottey and Margarito. There were times when Margarito would just throw him on the ropes and **** him to the body and Pac would get a little desperate when that happened. You could see his face that the body shots were really hurting him. And in the first several rounds against Cotto (when he was actually, you know, throwing), he was getting rocked then. Now how he goes from being shaken by a Morales punch to shaken by a Cotto punch isn't easy to explain, but it's not like PEDs are the only answer. I'd say he was a natural featherweight/superfeatherweight, but Vinny Paz got tougher and stronger as he moved up, too. It happens. Not a lot, but it does.
Serious Question for REAL/HONEST boxing fans about Manny Pacquiao?!

Pac was always weight drained in lower division
Pac's Mexican opponents weight drained him in the lower division.
but they still could not knock him down even as a one handed fighter.
Now his healthier and pay back time! COMMON SENSE.Comment

How can Manny go from being rocked by smaller guys MORE THAN ONCE to not being bothered by massively bigger more powerful punchers-boxers? He's developed a helluva punch since moving up in weight. It's possible that it's just his body maturing, but it would have to be truly remarkable genetics to not only account for his firepower but also his suddenly amped ability to take punches from bigger fighters.
Manny in his 30's as a welterweight is faster than he was in his 20's as a lightweight. Normally, as you get older and gain weight, you get slower. Floyd in his 30's as a welterweight is slower than he was in his 20's as a lightweight. This makes sense. Mannys situation does not make sense.
Manny will be 32 years old this month, he fought Morales in 2005 which would have made him 27 years old. He appears to be a faster and more powerful fighter since he has become older and moved up in weight. Did Manny just hit his prime late and develop into a great fighter?
You're forgetting increased stamina as evidenced by increasing punch output. Hard to increase punch output when you go from 130 to 147 in TWO years. Especially when you consider 50+ fights and ring wars at the lower weights. He looked so bad in the Larios fight (pretty sure it was the one) the commentary team was questioning whether his career was over.
Then Ariza arrrived and the same commentary team were stunned at his turnaround in his fight with Diaz.Comment

As you can see when he was at 130 he was putting on about 15lbs of water weight over night.
To answer your question, dehydrating yourself to that extent can in fact inhibit all of your abilities.
You can pass out doing nothing by being dehydrated, let alone fight championship fights.
His speed, power, and most importantly punch resistance could all have been effected by dehydrating to make weight.
Now that he seems to not have to dehydrate whatsoever by hanging around the mid 140's, his body feels better on fight night, so the speed and power is there and he seemingly takes a punch better.
Thats my take.
Reed plenty of guys dehydrate and put on tonnes of water weight after weight ins inlower divisions, yet still, when they leap more than 2 divisions they are very rarely as effective.
Ariza, who was Corrales conditioning coach couldn't help Deigo become more effective at 147, and he was a big guy who started at 130.
Alot of people don't understand how PED's actually enhance performance. They allow you to train longer, harder and more frequently. Therefore you get better in every department.
I prob wouldn't be questioning Manny at all, but for his and his teams initial reaction to OST style testing. When you couple that with other circumstantial evidence, i think it's foolish not to entertain the possiblilty.Comment

Come on man, get off this kick. He is not on steroids. I do believe his quality of opposition is meek, and that is a big reason for his massive successes, but he is not on steroids. There is no proof of this, and that accusation is getting old and you can't be serious when you say "Questions for serious fans" then you basically put an underlying message in your question where you are automatically point to him being on steroids.
Get real man, he's a great fighter, that's all.Comment
