He didn't beat Cotto at 154, he beat him at 145. Cotto is legitimately capable of competing at 154, Pacquiao isn't, so a Martinez fight is realistic for Cotto. It's like saying Floyd Mayweather should have fought Bernard Hopkins, because he beat Oscar at 154. See what I mean?

And Margarito is not the same size as Martinez. He is the same height, but Margarito is a career welterweight. He can actually make 150 in great shape, Martinez would be a zombie trying to weigh in at 150, and when Martinez lost to Margarito both fighters were in much different states in their career.
